ECU engine management warning light

ECU Engine management system has been replaced but the engine management warning light still comes on. The car still performs well but I don't know if anything else goes wrong. It's also too costly to keep on putting it in the garage for the plug-in testing.

Yes garage did test and all was OK.

Have you run the system self test, the ECU light does not mean the ECU is faulty, only that a system controlled by it has a fault.

There is a problem, it needs to go to a factory service center, it can be any one of multiple reasons that turns this light on.

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

You will need to have the the ECU scanned at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts, unless you have an OBDII Scantool. Let me know the codes and I will tell you what they mean.

Use another ignition key that you have, and start the engine.

My check engine light is on and won't go offf, why?

The check engine light comes on when the ECU or the cars computer sees a fault with one or more of the engine management sensors or circuits. The ECU will show the "Check engine" light indicating a problem, and warning you of a problem. Most any good parts store will -- using a special tool, read the code for free, cause they hope to sell you the part(s) needed to fix it. So head down to your local parts store and ask them to read your cars codes.

What causes the engine management warning light to come on

The CHECK ENGINE warning lamp comes on when the engine ECU recieves incorrect data . When it gets information outside of its perameters, it suspects a fault and illuminates the warning lamp.
To see what fault is shown you will need to use an OBD 2 code reader or go to the local Kia dealer to plug in and check.
If you do not notice any problems with the engine, then its possible it may only be a GLICH in the system, either way , test , check and erase the fault.
    Hope this helps

Faulty sensors in my hyundai accent.

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.
