2004 Nissan Murano Rear Hatch Struts

My struts went out this weekend that hold up my trunk. I received a quote for 340.00 for aftermarket parts and labor. I can't imagine these are too hard to replace but I can't find the part numbers to look how to buy these.

Thanks. Yes those small arms that hold up the trunk from slamming down on your hand.

I would assume your talking about the small hatch shocks right? If thats the case try your local auto store, napa, autozone, pepboys etc. they sell for about 20 each there and just go by the size of the old ones.

They are 80 dollars each

My hatch opens but it won't stay up without me holding it

If your hatch opens by itself with a push of a button, you will have to replace the door open and close motor located in the left rear of car. If your hatch is manual, you will just have to replace the hatch struts.

How do you install replacement hatch stays (struts) on a 2005 nissan pathfinder. I just received the parts but it doesn't look obvious how their attached.

hi I dont know this particular model but on most japanese cars there is at the end of the strut a small tin cover over the end if you prise this off with a small screw driver be careful as they tend to ping off in all directions once thats off its held by a very small ball joint which is just a question of levering them off but get somebody to hold the tailgate as its heavy and without a gas strut on there
it will bash your head not reccomended fitting is just the same as taking them off except on some of these struts you can leave the clips on and just push them straight on and they clip in on their own hope this helps

The trunk will not stay open on my 2007 Honda Odyssey? Any idea how to fix this?

there are springs or Shock absorbers attached to the hatch change the shocks or if its attached to a spring either its broken or its loose from either side

There are two gas charged struts on eother side of the rear hatch. One or both of these has lost there charge and there ability to hold the hatch open. Be prepared for aome sticker shock as they are not cheap!

They might be available in the after market so do some price shopping at your local auto parts stores. Make sure you get a direct fit part if you go with the after market. The new ones should pop right on without adapters.

Can I replace the lift supports on my '05 nisaan quest myself?

yes it is very easy, have the sales person at a parts store like Napa or Carquest show u how to release the spring clips that hold them on at each end of the ball socket they attach to, all you need is a stick to hold up the tailgate or hood while u replace them.

I need to replace the front struts on my 2005 Nissan Murano S. Do I need to replace my strut mounts at the same time, or are they a reusable part?

I would not replace them unless they are obviously bad. If replacement is neccessary, use dealer parts. NON Nissan parts are not as good of quality.

Replacement shocks and struts

Check out autopartswarehouse they list front and rear KYB product. Not much out there, probably because of the year of the Murano, not too many people replacing shocks/struts yet, there will be much more available in a couple of years. I had to search for some time to find something.
