Chrysler grand voyager 2010. Been absolutely fine but on 2 occasions 4 months apart I get in the cat turn the key and nothing happens. I get out , lock and unlock and car may then start but cuts out straight away. Eventually after about 5 mins of trying car starts fine, but yellow engine warning light is on but not flashing. Stays on for 2 days then goes off. Any ideas?

Could be the security system. If you can get a scan of the computer, the trouble code might be stored in history.

SOURCE: 2005 Jeep Grand Cherookee sometimes won't start

This could be something simple. Your starter draws far more power than anything except for the a/c clutch (not in play here) Since all accessories are functioning, it's likely that the battery terminals are oxidized. A high-draw item will actually break the connection temporarily. This condition will also change with humidity and temperature. Remove them and use a small wire brush or sandpaper to clean the battery posts and the inside of the connectors on the wires themselves. If you have done this and still have a problem, then you should start looking for other larger problems.
Good luck

SOURCE: turn the key and nothing happens,no crank,no sound,no start

It seems that you have a loose wire, bad connector or perhaps the main computer itself that is causing a problem If the shop is not seeing any codes, or codes come and go, likely I'm right...but someone is going to have to actually do some intensive testing to find the real cause. You can likely get another computer from a local scrapyard far cheaper than what the dealer will charge you...as far as wiring, you need a good accurate schematic a good volt/ohmeter and lots of time to trace wiring. When checking connectors test the pin, then probe the wire going into the pin...often the problem is where a wire meets the backside of the pin, either corroding or breaking..This also applies to any modules such as the security system...what you see on the dash does not always tell you that connection to components is good. This is not a "fix, but rather, a direction to go in. (exactly what I"d need to do if I was there)
Right now, everything is suspect including fuel system, till you rule it out!!!

SOURCE: when i start my car it just cuts off again this happens a few times then works fine, also after a few miles of driving the abs warning light comes on my car is an N reg audi A4 automatic 1.8

Hi, I had the same problem. it is the imoboliser, it reads a code in your key while starting. you need to get the code in the key reprogramed. if that wont work you will need to get a new ignition barrel. Audi dealer will reprogram your key.

You need an auto electrician to diagnose this. They will connect a professional grade scan tool computer, and find the issue. You can't guess stuff like this.

Recall ID # 103891 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH minus.gif Hide Details Recall Date:
JUN 26, 2014
Model Affected:
2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
Summary:
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Dodge Journey vehicles manufactured June 29, 2007, to June 17, 2010, and 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles manufactured January 26, 2007, to June 17, 2010. Road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
Consequences:
If the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will modify the ignition switch, free of charge. Chrysler sent out an interim notification to owners on September 11, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is L25. Note: This is an expansion of recall 11V-139.
Potential Units Affected:
525206

I have a 2000 Chrysler Voyager and both the ignition and steering wheel have locked up. Is there a way to fix this without replacing any parts?

usually you need to put a little pressure on the steering wheel turning it one way or the other while you try turning the key until the lock releases this often happpens if the wheels are turned when you shut the car off but can happen at any time

I have a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager with 120,000 miles. This morning the engine would not turn over as I turned the key. There was just a 'click' sound, that's it. Radio is working fine, lights are on and...

It sounds like your starter is stuck. This is a simple thing to resolve. Take a piece of wood, or the blunt end of a hammer and gently tap on the starter, this should free it up. You should then be able to start it. If this does not resolve the issue, then you may have a faulty, or corroded wire to the starter, or a faulty starter and will need to have it replaced.

Check the connections at the battery, and starter. If any one of these cables are loose, it will cause this.
