Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

Fuse for transmission

Does anyone know where the Fuse is for the Transmission on a '99 Oldsmobile Alero.

I blew mine again and don't have that kind of money to go to the shop and let them fix it. If I could find it I would change it myself.
Any Ideas??

The transmission fuse is in the fuse box under the hood. Its under one of the cross braces that run along the side like up in the front of the engine compartmen. Should say on the cover which fuse it is too. Also keep in mind fuses never blow for any reason other that something in the system somewhere shorted to ground. That means power hit metal ground in the car. If you have had this issue fixed already it should be under warranty and fixed again.

If you just had trans work done, don't use the car,
take it back & hopefully they will resolve the issue

Parts Store people are not all mechanics or shouldn't even

You should have a warrantee, use it

Transmission won't shift & speed odometer don't work

oooo man i just spent a ton of money trying to figure this problem out. i have a 99 bravada to. let me guess the gauges lite up but the rpm and spedo do not work. also the transmission wont shift while in drive. this is how i fixed mine. on the driver side, open the door there is a fuse box on the side of the dash. it is probly shorted out, even tho the fuses arnt blow it could still not be working. here is what u can to to fix it temporarly. take out the fuses that say dash and ignition, now run a hot wire to the fuse box and touch it to the ignition and dash fuse spots. and while u have both of them connected turn the car on and put it in drive and it should take off in first gear and run how it should. (when u connect the hot wire to those spots the dash should come on, even tho the key isnt on)

The cruise control on my 2000 Alero doesn't work. What are the possible problems? Is there a fuse for this?

Yes, there is a fuse. Could be the vehicle speed sensor, could be a bad wheel bearing, could be cruise control switch, could be transmission control module, could be brake light switch.

Can find the atuomaket train mission stick on a 99 olds alero

On a service parts identification label on the spare tire cover, look for a 3 digit code that starts with M, I.E. MD9 or some such, that will narrow down which transmission you have.
