Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala
My 2003 Impala driver's side window wouldn't roll-up very easily. If I touched it lightly or played with it several times it would finally go up and now it has gotten to the point where it won't go up at all. And now my turn signals will work for a while and then they will stop working as well. Got any ideas?
I have a 2003 impala that had the same problem. after examining what it might be I finally figured it out. Typacal auto poor design!. ever notice when it rains or if you spray the winshield with the washer and you are driving the water comes right back into the car and down the inside of your door? it pures right onto the switches. as a smoker this is a big problem. indeed the water damages and shorts out the switches. cause the driver's window is used the most it is the one that takes the hit more and is worn out more.
I too tried to replace the switch but only found out that the whole switch pack for the door handle can only be replace. even at the wrecking yard this was very expensive. so I wasn't going to play that game. no sir! I went to a electronic supply house like radio shack and bought a 2WAY SPRING MOMENTARY SWITCH WITH CENTER OFF, drilled a hole on the underside of the handle part that houses the switch cluster and re wired the the window leads to that switch. (HINT! you will want to use a volt meter to find the constant power lead withing the harnes plug to the switches then use a small piece of wire to find the up and down wires for that window. they won't be where you might think!!! by doing this place the one end of the wire into the found hot lead with the ignition on. then stab around the harnes untill you fint the up and down wires. once you locate them then attach those wires to you new switch. and a third wire from the hot feed to the new switch now you have a working up and down switch.)
this is a cheap inexpensive fix. I just refuse to pay big dollars on plastic junk. i don't plan to resell the car. it may be repo'd first then I don't car what they do with it! HAHA. but if you are rich unlike me! then just replace the switch cluster. two screws and you done.
turn signals is unrelated to this issue. sounds like you have a bad steering column switch. this can cause you headlights to intermittantly to fail when switching from hi and low.
hope this helps you all.

My driver side window on my 2001 Impala won't go up either. I know its the button thats not working, not the motor, because it does go up if the button is played with for a little while, but its a huge struggle.
I'm assuming i need to clean the connections, or try to get a new swtich, but I don't know for sure.

It is either the switch or the motor...
I have the same problem which I am going to fix myself and save a couple hundred dollars
