Question about 2002 Oldsmobile Alero
When the air conditioning is on, the car goes too hot, slows down and smells. Turn it off and it drives fine. 2002 Old Alero 40,000 miles...
Check your fan. You have air flow problems. If you don't have a fan clutch look at the electrical fan problems.

What type of smell is it? maybe the belt is slipping on the compressor pulley due to the clutch field shorting out, also check the 10 amp fuse for the A/C in the fuse box under the hood and see if it's blown, that will cause the car to run hot if the fans are not working properly.
