To disable the alarm system in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, try the following steps:
Close all doors and windows.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.
Within 10 seconds, press the lock button on the driver's door five times. The alarm system should turn off.
Note: The above steps assume that your 2001 Chevy Tahoe has a factory-installed alarm system. If it has an aftermarket alarm system, the steps to disengage it may be different.
Im not too sure but the first thing you need to do if you can is get a code reader and put it on the car and see what codes come up if any. And what do you mean thift system, what is that? do you mean theft system? that has nothing to do with your car starting. crank fuse? huh? LOL How was your car acting before you put the new timing chain on? what was the reason for putting a new one on? i need a little bit more information before i can advise you what to do. I work on cars. and you been getting a lot of what?
It's hard to say for sure since it sounds like it could be many things. If you turn the key and you hear a few clicks coming from the engine and then nothing, it could mean a very very weak battery. Your first step should be trying a different (fully charged) battery. Good luck.
I am guessing that it will start only for a second or two then stall out. Well for this you need to turn the ignition on and then try to start the engine. Then leave the ignition on while the security light flashes. It should then stay on solid after about 10 minutes. When light stays on solid then turn off ignition for about 20 seconds then try to start. It should start up. Hope this helps.
THE a/c compressor will come on when in recirculate mode this is normal. it is cycling because it is cold outside. as far as the heat sounds like your heater core may be clogged might wanna try flushing it out.
check and see if you have power to your switch, it might just be a fuse. worse case is you'll have to change the actual lights. was it starting to get dimer and dimmer?
there should be a fuse in the dashboard fuse panel, or possibly the one under the hood.. one will be labeled trans or tcm - something of the like...test ALL fuses in the fuse boxes for good measure, and change the fuses if you find any blown.
ALSO....
Did you recently have a remote start system installed? If so, they need to hook up the smaller white wire in the ignition harness to turn on with the ignition power from the remote start unit. If the ignition wire and the white wire (transmission control) are not powered at the same time, the trans will go into limp mode.
