Question about 2002 GMC Yukon XL

ABS light and pump

I noticed the ABS light came on when I started the car. Drive 20 minutes to destination, turned off motor and can hear the pump running. continues to run. I removed the "fuse" from the electrical box to temporiarily stop the pump.

same problem, same noise here too...someone told me it was the ABS sensor.

I have the same ABS light problem with my 2002 Yukon. The dealer tells me it is the ABS Module. Cost to repair: $1,367.00. I also removed the fuse to stop the module from running, and I have tried putting it back to see if the problem still existed; it does.

Same problem.....need to replace the "Pressure Modulation ABS" $862 and the "ABS Control Module" $ 1058. Both parts together make the sub-assembly needed to fix the problem. Ouch!

Yep same problem here too. Moved the vehicle from the street to the driveway and the noise started. Not only did I remove the fuse from the panel, but I also disconected the power source from the device under the vehicle which stopped the noise, but when reconnected, the noise started again. What will happen if the power is left disconnected or connected? Is the vehicle still safely drivable in either condition?

After you took the fuse out and it stopped did you put the fuse back in and see if it continued to run?

abs stands for anti breaking system its something strting to go wrong with your brakes it throws that code until you fix the problem could be serious could be low break fluid find a honest mechanic shop most of them will tell you what it means free they can pull the abs code that tells them what it is good luck

I ve got a kalos 1.4sx 2008 and i ve got problems with the brakes. The brakes ''crunch'' when i m bringing the car to a halt, even on dry roads. The abs warning light has been on a couple of times but...

The Chevrolet/GM autos rely on a Kelsey ABS actuator system that is electronically controlled. I know its hard to describe sounds, but is it possible the crunch is a hum? If the ABS light comes on and goes off after restart it means one of two things. That the ABS controller is going bad or the speed sensors on the wheels have come loose or gone bad. Under your hood there is a fuse compartment that contains the fuse that controls the ABS system on your vehicle. Its a 60 Amp fuse and large.. Look in your owners manual for its location. . Check it with the vehicle OFF to make sure its not blown or cracked. Leave the fuse disconnected and start the car. The ABS light should STAY on as well as the parking brake light. Test your brakes by pressing down on them while the car is in park and not moving.. do you hear the sound. If you DONT hear the sound then the ABS control module is causing the brake pump to work continuously and thus your "noise". YOu can confirm by placing the fuse back in place and then listening to the car about where the drivers door is... do you hear a hum? If so you can leave the fuse disconnected to deactivate the ABS module. The brakes will still function you just WONT have ABS capability. Confirm this with a very slow roll from park or neutral and press brakes to stop. If you dont hear the noise or a hum, reconnect the fuse and take the car for a drive. Turn to the left and right while applying the brake at an intersection.. vehicle in motion slightly. Do you notice that the ABS light or noise occurs turning one way or the other or both? If it comes on during the turn then the ABS sensor in that wheel or both wheels need to be inspected and possibly replaced. Finally, you need to inspect the brake pads for wear..typically however brake pads have WEAR INDICATORS built in and will start to SQUEAL when you apply the brakes telling you time to replace pads. If its a squeal and not a crunch then have pads replaced. Finally, be sure and make sure you dont have any rocks or road debris within the brake area or between teh pads and the rotors. That would be your final area to review for a CRUNCH noise.

2003 Prius: High pitched noise, ABS & BRAKE Lights on

Check your brake pads first,as they have a wear warning clip on them.so if you hear a loud screaming noise. Then its quite possible they have worn causing ur warning lights to come on.And i would get anouther quote as that is quite dear for a pump replacement. If it is the pump.good luck pippall!!

If You don't notice a stopping problem, brake problem, just reboot system by disconnecting negative terminal on Battery for a minute or two, with key in ignition, radio on engine not running, after the two minutes, connect Battery terminal, do not panic if you notice some sparks wile connecting terminal, make sure is *** turn car key OFF and start engine and see if problem remains, if it remains sensor es defective

ABS pump failure

Hi,
The problem is the solonoids inside the modulator are stuck, all you need to do is!!! Clear the code, than drive car while no abs light is on than lock the car a few times on wet road. The will help to free up the solonoids. Do this about 10 times, brake fluid is the only parts needed!!! Call me at 302 529 7888 if you like!!!

1996 Honda Odyssey strange, intermittent ABS problem

If you are absolutely sure that the all the abs sensors are good. Then the only other factors are the abs unit itself and the abs computer. Please have the system checked with a a scanner to make sure. Remember the only way to an ABS light will reset is by driving the vehicle and if every component of the system is fine the light will go out. Because your light is on there is a problem in the system and your abs is not functioning when the light is ON .Good Luck
