Question about 1992 Dodge Ram

Tail light malfuction

Both tail lights and all instrument panel lights failed at same time, probably caused by a trailer lighting failure. Removed trailer from system. Unable to locate a fuse for tail light system. Checked all fuses on fuse block. Did not find any faulty fuses. Both tail light bulbs O.K..

Check the brown wire on the tailight harness on the truck chances are it shorted and broke away from the assembly. the fuse is in the junction box under the hood.

Cannot find the fuse for the tail light.

The fuse for the tail lamps is located in the Instrument Panel Junction Block under the left side of the dash behind the lower finish panel. It is marked "TAIL" and it is a 10 Amp fuse.

HINT: If this fuse is blown, your front marker lamps and your license plate lamps will also not be working.

Please also read this article: Where's The Fuse?

If you are having a problem getting your tail lamps to work, The common problems on your vehicle is bad grounds inside the tail light housing. They tend to get loose at the rivets that hold the light socket and the ground wires to the plastic housing. I have fixed many of these by drilling out the rivet and drilling a small hole COMPLETELY through the tail lamp housing at the rivet location and installing a long, skinny bolt with a nut and lock washer to re-mount the light socket and ground wire.

Another possible cause is a failed rear lamp warning module failure. If your tail lamps are not working and the rear lamp warning light in your instrument cluster is not lit, then this could be the cause.

NO TALILIGHTS NO CLUSTER LIGHTS

tail light fuse is blown. If you have trailer hitch/wiring check to make sure connector is not corroded or shorted.

Lost Driver side tail light and no trailer lights, and lost all radio and hvac control lights as well...Checked fuses all look great! ????

Verify all fuses using Test Light on both sides of fuses. Sometimes they look good so the light comes in handy. Make sure you find the ones to the radio, hvac instrument panel and Lh Taillights. Double check for grounding on trailer set up they can be problematic.

Backlights wont work at night time

ARE THE LIGHTS WORKING IN THE DASH ? IF NOT IT'S PROBABLY JUST A FUSE,I WOULD CHECK THE FUSES AND BULBS FIRST, THEN IF ALL ARE GOOD ,GET A TEST LIGHT AND CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER TO THE WIRES, GOING TO THE LIGHT SOCKETS,IF NOT YOU WILL HAVE TO TRACE THE WIRES DOWN, IF IT HAS A PIGTAIL FOR LIGHTS FOR A TRAILER FOLLOW THE WIRES UNDER THE BACK AND SEE IF IT PLUGS BETWEEN THE HARNESS & THE TAIL LIGHTS, IF SO WHILE THE LIGHTS ARE OG WIGGLE THE CONNECTOR WHERE IT PLUGS TOGETHER & SEE IF THEY COME ON ,IF THEY DO YOU CAN EITHER TAKE THE TRAILER PIGTAIL OUT,& JUST PLUG THE HARNESS BACK DIRECT TO THE TAIL LIGHTS ,OR TRY CLEANING ANY DIRT AND GRIME OUT OF & FROM AROUND THE PLUG & PUT DIELECTRIC GREASE ALL OVER THE CONNECTIONS AND TRY THAT ,BUT IF THAT FAILS & YOU NEED THE TRAILER LIGHT PIGTAIL YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus Wagon. tail light and instrument panel

i have a 2000 focus wagon and had the same problem. It's not the fuse! It's the wiring harness at the point where it leaves the body and goes into the hatch. When the hatch is opened and closed repeatedly after years the wires will break with constant bending. I had to solder together 7 wires and the problem was solved. It's a lot cheaper than replacing the entire wiring harness.

Headlight won't come on

The headlights have 2 fuses. One is a main power feed under the hood in the distrabution box and the other is under the dashboard. Check the fuses and then check for power at the switch. If you have power at the switch then its not a fuse its the switch and the trailer you had connected most likely shorted and back fed into the parking and dash light circuit. Those circuits also run from the light switch.

I have a 1996 Chevy C1500 5.7L Vortec. I hooked it up to a trailer and lost dash lights, tail lights and parking lights. All other lights work. Fuses look fine. Is there a fuse separate from the lighting...

There is a n instrument panel fuse and a tail light fuse. Check both with a 12V test llight not just visually. Sound like one of the are blown, probably the brake/stop light fuse. Usually the dash will darken, when a tailight fuse blows, sort of a sneaky way of letting you know theres something wrong. Now is going to be WHY DID IT BLOW ? Hope this helps

02 Pathfinder back lights just died

Some times when you get a short circuit. It will burn out a tail light bulb. With the bulb burnt out you don’ have a complete circuit. First, replace you tail light bulbs. If that doesn’t work. Check to see if you have a ground wire come off.
