Question about 1999 Dodge Ram

1 Answer

1996 Dodge Ram A/C

I'm having problems with my A/C. The truck was parked for about 5 months and everything worked fine prior. Now the A/C doesn't blow cold inside the cab, under the hood the compressor turns and the high pressure side feels very cold

Any ideas?

If your high pressure side feels cold it's not suppose to be. you have a blockage and chances are it's your dryer. the high pressure shoiuld be hot not cold. go get it evaced and replace the dryer and recharge. also make sure you power wash the condenspor dirt and grime block the airflow.

1996 dodge ram 5.2 auto 318 to shift to 4wd do u put in park or drive and can you shift to and from 4wd on the fly

Need to know what transfer case it has. Most t-cases have synchronized gearing...meaning shift on the fly. A quick test is drive at less than 5 mph, and shift, no gear clash means you have synchros. ****This is only from 2wd to 4 high. 4 low you MUST be stopped(doesn't matter what gear its in).****

Try putting it in neutral before putting it in drive. the pump doesn't engage in park and sometimes the fluid leaks back out of the torque converter. I have the same problem in my 2004 Ram 3500 and 70 Challenger.

Is it the cold weather not allowing my car to go in drive?

Yes the cold can do strange things. Try leaving the car to warm up for 10 min prior to driving.

1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L with 93K. Oil dummy

I had the same problem and ended up changing the oil pump and it did not fix it. (Peace of mind anyway and it was cheap) I replaced the pressure sensor (that happens to be tucked in deep between the back of the engine and firewall) and the pressure gauge worked just fine after that.

does the instrument panel lights come on when you turn on the park lights only (no headlights)? If not it could be the switch itself.
