Place around all the pulleys (Should have a picture of the route of the belt somewhere close kind of near the hood latch.) Loosen Tensioner pulley, slip belt over pulley and let the tensioner pulley do its job!

What bolts do i undo to realease tension on fanbelt on ford ef

There is no need to take out any bolts as the belt is held on by the tensioner. If you releae the tension off of the tensioner, the belt will come off. You re-route the new belt, then set it on the tensioner and release the tensioner so the belt will stay on.

How to replace the fan belt

There is a spring loaded idler/tensioner near the top of the motor. With a socket that fits the nut shape on the front of the tensioner use a pull handle or breaker bar to releve the tension and remove the belt. Pay attention to the routing. There should be a diagram somewhere under the hood.
After routing the belt over all but the tensioner, use the pull handle and socke to pull it back and place the belt under it. Release pressure on bar and you should be done.
Start the engine and check that the belt is tracking and still on the engine.

Changing fan belt

Removal & Installation
  1. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt.

WARNING Never suddenly let go of the tensioned idler pulley. The force of the spring pressure suddenly released may damage the idler pulley mechanism. Always release the spring pressure gradually.

To install:
  1. Route the belt over the pulleys making sure all the grooves in the pulleys and the belt line up correctly. Refer to the accessory belt routing section of this manual.
  2. Rotate belt tensioner clockwise and slip drive belt over idler pulley on tensioner.

Removed the old fan belt. But don't know hos to

LOOP THE BELT UNDER THE CRANK PULLEY, START WITH THE RIGHT HAND AND GO AROUND THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE WATER PUMP, DOWN TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP, OVER THE A/C COMP, UNDER THE IDLER PULLEY, OVER THE ALTERNATOR, AND THEN THE TENSIONER.

ITS EASIEST TO SLIDE THE BELT UNDER THE IDLER LAST AND RELEASE THE TENSIONER.

If this belt is not used with a tensioner, then you should adjust the belt so you can rotate the belt with your fingers 90 degresses.

Diagram for fan belt repair

2.0L Engines
See Figures 11, 12 and 13
The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
