ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS RELACE THE WIRE. THE CODES WILL CONINUE TILL YOU DO REPLACE THE WIRE

  • Anonymous Aug 21, 2012

try a junk yard or if your careful, remove pins from plug and install new wires back to a good point ,don"t use **** com, hard wire with solder and srink wrap! make sure you wire it the same wire for wirs

I would assume there is a reason the wires are chewed up

You need to replace or repair the wire situtation, but not at
the cost of $1000.00

You replace the wire damage one wire at a time,by soldering
& heat shrinking them

If you depend on a repair shop, rather then doing all your own
work your in big trouble. Shops don't like that kind of work &
don't perform it well as a result. Not to offend those that do good
work, but it isn't standard repair shop type work & a dealer is
out of the question. Their $1000.00 parts swappers

1999 Ford Taurus se, the car was running fine yesterday but after idling in the closed garage for about a minute it started to sputter with a almost sulfur odor and the service engine soon light came on...

Go to an Autozone, Oreily, or Advance auto parts store. They will scan you car for free and can reveal the Code and possible fix.

Possibly the air sensors went out of balance when there was no fresh air. Sounds like sensors read the engine as "Lean" due to lack of Oxygen and set engine to a rich setting.

Tried getting ford f150 4.2 2003 inspected. Replaced air filter and fuel filter already. Check engine lit was on before replacing them . Now check engine light is out . But won't pass inspection.

As for your codes p1131 and 1151: Ford - Lack Of Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 Switches - Sensor Indicates Lean

Last week I had the very same catalyst, evap and ECG codes come up on my 1999 Mercury Mystique which is like a Ford Taurus. A friend was able to find a hole or leak in the hose connected, replaced it and it runs fine. I havent run it a full and straight 50 miles yet to clear the check engine light but that repair alone changed the entire way the car was poorly driving. Im sure that hasnt fixed all the probs but thats a good starting point.

My 1999 Ford Taurus is ideling rough and dies, Could this be an oxygen sensor?

If it was an Oxygen sensor it would most likely cause the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT to come on.
I would check the spatk plugs and condition of the plug wires first.

What is the PO136 code on 1999 Ford Taurus

This code is the circuit malfunction for the oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2. This means that the engine computer is not seeing the sensor. It may need an new sensor, have a wire between the sensor and the computer that has shorted out, or just be unplugged. Here is a link to a trouble code dictionary.

Check Engine Light Code #0136

Usually there is a p in front of the numbers like p0136. If that's what it is, it's the oxygen sensor. The one on bank #1, #2 sensor, the one down by the catalytic converter under the vehicle. replacing it should solve the problem.
