I just bought a 97 lincoln continental. Cosmetically the car looked really. Good compared to what I'm driving now.so I took it for a quick drive before I bought it...it has 100,000 miles exactly..the place closed and I drove away on to a highway to really celebrate but didn't realize the car jerks a little heavy in second gear i mean I know enough 2 ease off the petal to minimize the **** but its still a problem. When I reach my destination I shut it off come back about an hour later and start the car but it won't stay on if I don't pump the gas while turning key and getting it moving right away..I bought this car for 2300 and my beatup old car... is it worth fixing?? How miles are these cars good for??

Hi. I have seen lincolns with 200,000 miles on em.. That said, I am a wee bit suspicious that your had exactly 100,000 miles on it when you bought it. Possible but not likely. Go to a reputable mechanic and see what he says. Shop around. Keep notes so you remember the details. Joe

Check your transmission fluid level and smell/color. You have to check it with the engine on. Make sure the fluid is at the right level and that it doesn't look gritty or sparkly. You may have a clogged transmission filter if everything else checks out.

My 97 Lincoln Continental whines when I turn corners. I can't afford to take it to a mechanic. What can I do?
try adding lucas power steering fix to it if it gets low in fluid. or try to take some out and add the lucas to it. It should help with the noise and the lockup.

Check you fuel pressure regulator.Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and if you see any fuel run out of it then the regulator is bad.

I have a 01 Lincoln Continental that wouldnt start. After paying $69 to the repair shop they told me that the alternator and belt are working like they should but the battery wont hold a charge. I took the battery to Sears (6 month old Diehard) and after a day and a half they said the battery is good. Now the car starts each time but the lights(inside and out) all flicker and when you press the gas they flicker more? After about 5 minutes the flickering stops. What could be the problem?

97 lincoln continental says door is ajar.
the door switches are part of the door latch, the easiest way to remedy this is to spray liberal amounts of WD40 into each latch and open and close the each door a few times, this should loosen up the latch and solve your problem.
