Does the coil have to be bolted down in order to work properly? I purchased a used van and have had it for quite some time and i decided to change plugs as preventitive maint. I changed plugs and all the plugs looked the same as they should for 75k but the coil on #2 was not bolted down (Broken bolt) and ever since I changed the plugs #2 missfires. i purchased a code reader and it confirmed that infact it was the # 2 hole as I expected. I changed the plug again to make sure it was not defective but to no avail it still miss fires.

The coil should be bolted on anyway, check the spark lead and distributor cap for arking wear on contacts,,if its still missing it may be a valve sticking or maybe rocker arms need adjusting

Where is the coil pack, and how to change it, on a 2004 chevrolet venture van?

Follow the large black wires from the spark plugs to the coils. There are three coils in a row. They look like the pic below. Each is held in by two bolts. Change them one at a time. Remove the two wires. Remove the bolts or nuts and replace the coil. Tighten the nuts or bolts and replace the wires. Do the same procedure for the other two coils.

PLEASEEEEE help! I have a 2000 kia sephia when I first bought the car ( from a private seller) it ran perfect as time went on the check engine light would switch on then switch off again at random times,...

first, quit begging, why did you buy this piece of s--- ? do you have a licence , donot drive this vehicle until its fixed, its dying, your kickingdead horse dude stop it, now. don't know if this can be fixed. now, timing is way out, lets keep it simple, you need the following : spark plug wires, the right spark plugs, if you have a distributor of some sort, get it a new cap and rotor, all stock items, not aftermarket . when was the last time fuel filter was changed, do it. find out where the timing needs to be, repair manual for this car by haynes . you need it. after completing all work, timimg must be checked, and set, need timing light, inductive type best, make sure plug wires are on the right spark plugs and in the distributor @ right location, see repair manual. place timing light around #1 spark plug, and also attached to battery terminals red is +, black is - , negative, knowing the timing, start engine, keep timing light wires away from fan, etc., have distributor hold down bolt loosened so you can turn it while you point the timing light towards crank damper to see timing mark, (marked w/ chalk ) timing light will flash quikly turn distributor until the correct timing is achieved, (see repair manual) for correct location of timing, when you reach this position, tighten down distributor hold down bolt, now your timing is set. Is engine running better ? NOTE: some engines need to unplug something before timing is set, (see repair manual) like the throttle position sensor, yours may be somthing else, find out which one. (repair manual) its important ! make sure all vacumn lines are in proper locations, its important, now man up and prove to me that you can do it, this can change your life, 321 goooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two bolts are striped on 1983 280ZX, what size are head bolts to get right size heli coil and how hard is it to install heli coil in block ?

You should take the stripped bolts with you to purchase the new bolts at the auto store at the same time you buy the heli-coil inserts. While I could give you a possible size, (some are shorter, some longer in some engines) you have the exact part right there with you. Go ahead and take a good head bolt with you too.

The inserts are of brittle steel and must be installed carefully, but, this is done frequently for the same reason you need them without any problem.

There is also the option of tapping the damaged threads up to the next size, and using a different size head bolt, but you have to decide which is best based on your experience level and the availability of parts.

I recently purchased a 2003 envoy and I was used to driving a chevy van for work which has more responsive steering than the envoy. Is there any suspension components that I can change to make the envoy...

Changing the struts and coil springs will only change the ride of your vehicle, not the responsiveness. In order to change the responsiveness you'll need to change out the steering gearbox and a more responsive gear box may not be available. The gearing in your gear box can be changed but it will be very expensive to do and time consuming, as this is a very difficult job. I'm sorry this is not a positive answer but I want you to be aware of what you're up against.

How do you remove the coil on a 2000 GMC safari van

The coil on this model is mounted on the manifold and is sandwiched between a couple bolt nut combos and you need to remove them in an order and dont forget how they come off or you will spend and bit of time trying to find the right combination to work again. not hard just get stuff out of the way. You will find it fairly easy to take the inner engine cover off to gain a good access to the coil and mounts
