Question about 2005 Nissan Frontier

2 Answers

Not Starting I ran out of fuel last night, out a couple gallons in this morning. 2002 Nissan Frontier V6 still won't start. Disconnect fuel line to injectors, it's getting plenty of fuel. I also took a spark plug wire off the spark plug to check for arch. No spark. I know this is what's probably causing the problem, but I don't know why it's not getting any spark.

Well are you sure you ran out of gas? the problem could be the spark ever since it cut off. check the distributor mostly that is a problem in this care.

there is a component called ignition pick up in side the distributor. if its bad or there are pieces of bearing moving around it will not let the proper spark happen.

If you live in a cold climate, you may have a frozen fuel line.

Check the fuel pressure, it is likely the pump is defective. The pump is located inside the fuel tank. Also try spraying starting fluid into the engine to see if it starts, this may bring the p[ump to life from the increased system voltage to the pump. If that doesn't work and you have a no start still you have other problems.

Turns over ok wont start.ran ok last night this morning wont start. new clutch last night and brake lines.

While doing the clutch you more than likely unplug the fuel pump wiring harness or the crankshaft sensor and this wiil cause the truck not to start. Check under the truck for a unplugged wiring harness and reconnect it and I am sure your truck will start.

What are the signs and symptoms of a fuel pump needing replaced. Other than the obvious that the car will not start 2000 Nissan frontier V6, 3.3L 4x4 crew cab

You don't hear it running when your turn the key on just before the crank position.

You have replaced the fuel filter and it was pretty much stopped up. (destroyed pump trying to pump through stopped up filter.)

Because it was going bad you couldn't drive fast because it wasn't pumping enough fuel.

Disconnect fuel line and see if fuel comes out when you turn the key on.

2004 nissan titan...ran out of gas

Good chance that even on 4 gallons it may not start I would try for more, prime the fuel pump several times by turning the key on and leaving it on for around 5 seconds then shutting it off and repeating, obviously not trying to start. I've had cases where even small FWD cars won't start even on 4 gallons on a 12 gallon tank. The newer fuel pumps are a closed system that only allow a small portion of fuel into the pump housing to keep contamination down. Let me know if after adding a few more gallons it won't start we will trouble shoot from there. Thank you for using fixya.com
