No reverse in just about any automatic transmission is going to be a mechanical failure inside the trans. This is presuming all the forward gears are ok.I have seen on many occassions where the vehicle has no reverse and no 3rd gear and that makes sense, but is still a mechanical failure,as the direct clutches (3rd gear) are applied in reverse as well as 3rd gear,on most automatics.

How can I get 1999 Ford explorer to go in reverse-stck

-Check linkage (The cable that from the shift handle to the safety
switch on the transmission. It might be too loose, so it can't shift
to reach the reverse position.)
-If it's good then new transmission.

Good luck

98 ford explorer will drive but you put in in reverse will not go

It is possible that the shift linkage is out of adjustment and is going into neutral and not making it to Reverse, try moving the gear selector slowly from park, through reverse to Neutral, and see if it will go into reverse somwhere in between. If this does not work ,you may have Reverse gear failure, a common problem with explorer/ranger transmissions. unfortunatly it requires rebuilding the transmission

200 ford explorer will not shift into overdrive,

My Mom had the same problem, and ended up needing her transmission totally rebuilt. Later she was told that when Fords do this they usually just need the transmission flushed and all the filters replaced which is a way cheaper alternative and a good thing to try before you shell out 2k for a total rebuild !!!

Transmission shifting problems

If Drive Selector switch is properly aligned then a shift silonoid might be the problem.
