How to do the relearn/reset after replacing ecm in 2001 monte carlo

If you leave your key in the ON position for 15 minutes, the security system should relearn it and work once again. But the halo around the lock cylinder needs changing. You can purchase a kit from GM that includes the lock cylinder along with the halo. you do not need to replace everything, just the halo is what usually goes bad.

u might have a blown ecm fuse

I had a 2001 Impala that would crank and run for about 3 seconds and go dead it was the passlock system had to put the key in on position and let it sit for about 30 min and do a relearn it sounds funny but it worked on mine. Good luck

I belive the ECM is under the dash above emergency brake . The PCM is under the seat and the BCM is under the air filter box under the hood.

have yuo had hte ECU (computer) flashed/ replaced? it sounds like that is the culprit, provided that it doesn't start....

take off the trim panels on the bpillar and you should be able to put in but hey will need to be reset. before you put that in disconnect battery and it may reset.
