Question about 1995 Honda Civic

1 Answer

I have a 1959-1962 Honda C102 Super Cub 50cc Scooter, with electric start, that has a 6 volt system, that I am trying to get running. I have a new 6 volt battery, fixed a lot of wiring problems, and was able to make the headlight, taillight and speedometer light to work. I have taken the cap off the end of the starter, and have taken sand paper to the copper part that the brushes ride on, and made that nice and shinny. And the brushes are are making good contact. And I cant get the starter to work. Thats what i have got done. But what i am not sure that is if it is a 6 volt system, should the red wires coming from the harness be hooked up to the negative side of the battery, and the black or (Ground) wires be hooked up to the positive side. Also there is a yellow wire with a red stripe coming from the starter button on the handle bars that runs through the harness down to the battery box area, that I don't know where that needs to be hooked to, can someone help me.

Also the cable coming from the stud sticking out of the starter, should that go to the Pos. or Neg. on the battery.

where is the solenoid, I have looked for it, its not in the battery compartment, and its not on the starter like if it were a car?
what would it look like, and could i trace another wire from somewhere to the solenoid.

Large wire off starter will go to positve battery, the small yellow/red wire should go to the starter solenoid, and the battery should be hooked up like a nornal setup please rate -jeff

74 bonniville only runs on left side, new boyer ignition, new coils 6 volt ,new wires new plugs...new gas and filter

Only one side of engine runs? Could be a head gasket problem on the right. It is a mechanical issue, not an electronic or electrical possibility as in newer cars. Do a compression test of the engine to see if the right side has compression failure from a bad head gasket.
A 1974 model would be a 12 volt system, not 6 volts. The last 6 volt systems were in the 1950's. If your coil is 12 volt and the left side runs and fires good, there is nothing wrong electrically. Check for spark on the right side, it should have spark on all cylinders if good spark on the left side. If no spark on the right side,. maybe a problem with the rotor or the distributor cap.

The new filter allowing more air into the motor throwing off the air to fuel mix ratio you can either adjust the carb or put the factory filter on

What would cause the alternator to run hot on a 1949 farmall cub tractor

Sounds like your still running power thru the original regulator also. Disconnect the original system completely so that your running power directly from alternator's inboard regulator and to the battery. Nowhere else.

Peace Sports 50cc scooter. Starter runs but does not engage. Is it a bad starter or something else?

Bad starter, starter solenoid clicks, but the starter does not turn, check the charge of the .... If it still will not start, it means something else is (mechanical or electrical) wrong too.

05 Chrysler Pacifica engine bucking , engine light comes on, battery light comes on. But battery is fully charged and alternator is working. When the battery comes out, it seems like the computer re

The Battery CCA Rating is to turn over the starter

CCA--Cold Cranking Amps
That is at zero degrees
Total cranking amps is at 32 degrees

The car runs off the alternator
It puts out over 14 volts

The 12 volt battery is 6 cells @1.2 v each = 13.2 v

You need 12.6 volts to test a car or you charge it first

You need over 13 volts to charge a battery, thus the alternator

The only other job the battery has is a stabilizer in the electrical
circuit

So you need to have the charging system diagnosed as the
various light you have on should be off when engine first starts

Put new starter on truck truck won't shut off with key have to un-hook ground cable from battery. this is a 1950 chevy pick-up with coil and points.

Is your electrical system the original 6 volt or was it updated to a 12 volt system? Does the key crank the engine or does it have a push button to crank the engine and a key to just turn to the run position?

Need to haul power chair and scooter at the same time

If it were me I would make the rear landing bigger instead of having that scooter inside with me .. incase of an accident I wouldnt want that in the car floating around.. you could have a welder make your rear lift a little larger and put a small ramp on it for the scooter also.. just a idea.. thanks Jerry ..
