2011. Why has cruise control failed?

cruise controls are controlled by several units
VSS or road speed sensor, clutch and brake sensors , engine speed (tacho) and the on/off switch
cruise controls will disengage automatically if the road speed is too slow ( higher for manuals than autos ) so if the road speed is below around 20mph it may not engage at all as the VSS says it is too slow for the engine rpms
check all sensors for adjustment

Toyota corolla specifications

fuel consumption of engines is a question very often asked and seldom answered adequately. There are so many variables that affect consumption so I will give a few
tyre pressure and size
ambient temperature
condition of engine
load carried
number of passengers
weight of driver
dragging brakes
extras on vehicle (roof rack)
wheel alignment
tread pattern of tyres
driving habits
speed
driving conditions (town-country)
driving conditions ( hilly --flat)
road surfaces
slipping into neutral at lights
the list goes on and on so be guided by the expected average of the manufacturer of between 8 litres to 10litres per100kilometers travelled

Speedometer not working

There were two engine types in the year 2001. Toyota corolla 3ZZ-FE and 4A-FE. Speed meter problem may be due to the following reasons:
- Speed meter connector disconnected/corroded at the transmission.
- Wiring harness.
- Vehicle speed sensor.
- Combination meter.
- ECU

Old geo will work with overdrive trans

"will I be", no one can speak for your skills, time or cash, why ask that.
ask how, how much, or how long.(so will answer that)
the prizm has , Toyota engine.
lets answer easY way;
1: you can in fact put any engine and any trans in to any car.
any true pro, can do that. it's not magic. (plasma cutter and all)
and a lot of hard work.
i many cases, in usa it's illegal ,but we skip that.

you did not state the exact transmission, you wanted.
out of what car, or what year.
ever price them $$$ ?
they run more that the whole car , like $1000?
and finding a uses good 5sp,. that be hard, after 18 years.

here are the parts (wiki paste) see toy engine?
Body style 4-door sedan
5-door hatchback Engine 1.6 L 4A-FE I4
1.6 L 4A-GE I4, 105 hp (78 kW)
1.6 L 4A-GE I4, 130 hp (97 kW) Transmission 5-speed manual
3-speed automatic
4-speed automatic
Ok, ill not post the 20 things that need to be changed
what I will do is teach you to fish,
I present the FSM. (better is a GEO parts list used)
the answer is here.
(tranny, tranny TCM brain, harnesses, mounts.
you can see in the FSM.

if you have never done , tranny swaps cars?,
why do that? you have a month of free time?
why not sell this old car, and get one with the 5sp.
http://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html
be cheaper, faster and will save vast effort and time.
$1000 to $1500 for old and get the 5sp car for same.
KBB prices.

My problem is related to the brake pedal the first few times i have pressure if you insist always pressing the pedal loses pressure and goes to the bottom gearbox automatically stops responding and it

if when you push the brake peddle and it is hard at first then starts to fade towards the floor and you have no visible fluid leaks or noticeable fluid loss then your master cylinder is bypassing internally and needs replaced

Wanna change the engine in my ae92 corolla.

There are many different types of 4a engines including 4a 4af 4age 4agze but the 5a is a 1.5 8v engine the 4a is a 1.6 usually a 16v. a 4age is a 1.6 16v gti engine that produces 129bhp depending on year later models had a little more. both engines are fuel injected and were produced for roughly the same period of time. from my experience a 4age goes on for ever. hope this helps

Excessive idle speed

The problem may also be the automatic choke. It could be stuck in fast idle. check all choke settings and linkages clean if nessesary. There is a separate fast idle adjustment screw on the choke linkage that controls engine speed while the engine is warming up. The tip of the screw rests against a cam that slowly rotates as the choke opens during engine warm up. Turn this screw counterclockwise to decrease the fast idle speed.
