Hi,

Your vehicle's engine emission system is monitored by the On-board Diagnostic (OBD) computer.

Misfires can be caused by any number of circuits ranging from MAP, TPS, HO2, Injectors, Vaccuum leaks....and so on.....and so on.....

The misfire you speak of will have triggered the appropriate fault codes which will be stored in memory. As there could be numerous causes for this condition, you really should have your codes read by your local dealership.

Checking for fault codes only takes 15-25mins (depending on experience of the technician), and will quickly identify the suspected circuit/s.

Good luck...

With those problems your computer should be sending out error codes. If it is what are they? If it isn't then I would suspect the computer itself!

96 Buick Roadmaster, misfire on #1 cylinder. Changed distributor, plugs, wires and injectors. Have spark, fuel and compression, still misfiring

Try swapping injectors. Replace #1 with #3. If ## starts to show miss fire, then you know it is a bad injector. Also look for a vacuum leak around the #1 intake manifold.

96 Ford Explorer is studdering (misfiring) when going up hills

I have the same exact problem that just started immediately AFTER I got a tranny service where they changed the Trans Fluid, Trans Filter, Fuel Filter. Took it back and they say nothing is wrong with it. Took it to the dealer thinking I could get some REAL answers... they just told me to replace spark plugs, wiring & coil, for $900. Only studders when quickly accelerating above 40mph. I've check other forums, they say to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor. Haven't tried it yet. This seems the easiest before replacing spark plugs. Any other suggestions anyone?? Please.....

3.1 engine 96 misfires trough driving speeds and idle

i had a 94 that ran into problems like that with very rough idles and misses. i get about five different codes from injectors to oxygen sensor. turned out my negative wire from the battery was so corroded inside the insulation it was causing all sorts of problems. bought new cable and ends from canadian tire $40.00 and installed (had to clean the connection to the block with sand paper) but fixed all my problems after that.

cheers
