Knocking sound from motor

I bought a used 2004 sebring 2.4 liter single cam, in december of 2007 with 30,000 miles now I have 49,000 miles. I work 43 miles away from one way, and carpool, so 2 weeks out of the month I drive my carr. Just recently I noticed this ticking/knocking sound in my motor. I notice it more when my car is warmed up and idleing, I thought it might be my valves, but when I tried to have them adjusted I noticed they are not like the regular torque they are pin rods and spring like things. Could I be wrong? I'm afraid something is going to happen,

Well there could be several causes for the ping and knock. first can you tell me if you have rough starts? constant idle changes? when was the last time you had a tune up. does the check engine light come onintermitantly?do you have a slow response at the throttle?when is the last time you changed the oil and filter? thses questions will help me pinpoint the problem and help you with a more detailed solution

My 2005 dodge Magnum 2.7 liter started knocking as if it had no oil

you are most probably looking at a rebuild. There was a class action suit against Chrysler because of that motor. they made the oil passages in that motor too narrow, and it doesn't take a lot of gunk to block them up and a good section of the motor loses oil pressure. I remember that their policy was to blame the customer if he missed a single service. a lot of those engines failed under warranty.

Sebring 2004 engine knocking

Well it could be something in the timing components but I doubt it.
Chances are its a connecting rod or piston.

2002 2.7 liter chrysler has a knock in the engine. sounds like it is coming from the valves

if the car has alot of miles on it , a little bit of top engine noise is nothing to worry about. if the car does'nt have alot of miles on it or the noise is real loud then you may have a lose valve or need rocker arm ajustment.

Moter knocks when i first start it then goes away

I had a chevy 2002 avalanche,2004 chevy tahoe both after 20,000 miles developed a mild lifter or slight bearing knock. When I confronted chevy with this problem they stated this was normal for the 5.3 liter v8.Being a mechanic myself didnt think this sounded right. My friend has a 2003 gmc yukon and motor sounded same way.I no longer own my chevy,But my friend still has yukon with 150,000 plus miles and yet it still knocks when you start it.this is just a problem with chevys and other gm products.

Nocking sound coming from rear cam shaft, sounds like mabe acam bushing might be going out

no cam bushings in the single or twin cam engine. knock may be number 4 rod.Or piston slap when cold, or worn high miles. also if its a stick shift if you push the clutch in will the noise stop? if so the thrust bearing on the crank is bad.

Ignition timing for a 2004 sebring?

The ign timing is set by the computer. The crank and cam have got to be set by the timing belt, but the rest is done by the computer.

If you have "jumped" time then you will need to check/change the timing belt to fix the problem.

Engine knocking and oil lampe illuminated during idle

Change oil and filter. Use a synthetic blend oil, add 1/2 pint of marvel mystery oil, and drive for a short time, 30 minutes or so. If knock continues, the damage is already happened. Use only synthetic blend or synthetic oil in the 2.7 litre engine.
