Question about 1998 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

98 buick; Car will not turn over with the key, but when I put a remote start switch to the starter it will but won't stay running, it runs the first time I try it for about 15 sec. I tested all the relays I found and fuses. I'm not getting power to the starter relay from the switch which tests good. Any ideas? Thankyou in advance for your time. Sounds like you dont have the right key pull the trim away from the ignition and look for a loop of wire around the ignition key area if so, you have an immobilzer system and need to have a key made if not sounds like some problem with the ignition switch please rate -jeff

So I have a 92 Buick lesabre that won't turn over battery is good just when I turn the key it won't crank over now when I take a screwdriver to the starter and turn it over it will crank but won't stay...

Bad solenoid on the starter. Car should keep running tho if the key is on when you jump the solenoid with the screwdriver. If it doesn't, you have other problems, like a bad ignition switch or wiring. NOT the key switch, the one down low on the column the key switch activates.

you may have a bad ground, or the ignition switch needs to be replaced.

Starter won't start on 86 buick regal FI 3.8 L already replaced starter & verified all fuses ??

i finally fixed this one.apparently the theft prevention system was no longer able to measure the resistor in my key. That thing that everyone refers to as a "chip" in the key is only a resistor, one of like 10 or 12 std values that computer is set to recognize. measured key res with meter, cut wires running to ign key contacts that read key and inserted a res = res meas on key.problem solved, theft prevention perm. bypassed! read somewhere the only ones this system prevents from starting car is the owner when it starts malfunctioning......how true

1994 Buick Park Ave won't start

The security system will keep it from turning over on that model. You need to try a 30 minute theft learn. Follow these instructions closely. Try to start the car, then leave the key on for 10 min. Turn the key off, 2 or 3 seconds. Turn the key back on, do not try to start the car this time, leave the key on for 10 min. Turn the key off again, turn it back to run, do not try to start it again, leave it for 10 more minutes. Then turn it off, and then try to crank it. If it is a security problem and it is not the ignition damaged it will crank. Good Luck. Mike From Texas.

I cant start my car with the remote starter

You normally have to while the car is running transmition in neutral push the brake pedal, put the emergancy brake on, release the foot brake, press the remote start button on the remote, take keys out of ignition switch, car should stay running, get out, press the lock button on remote starter remote, car should shut off, and now is set
