Question about 2000 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Toyota Camry wouldn't move in Drive position

Hi
Today my car ditched me in the middle of road.

In Drive gear,it refused to move ahead although the reverse gear were working fine.I got it checked the other day when it was not moving in reverse direction and mechanic asked me to get the engine mount checked however I could dirve for few days before getting it checked.

Please suggest what could be the problem with this 2000 Model Toyota camry LE which has 78000 miles on it.

Rgds

Thanks Jeff. Will the incorrect fluid level will cause the car to turn in reverse but not go in forward direction?

Also my engine dashboard light is giving a 'check' signal

I have a 1990 Camry and last night while go up a hill (slight), it became incredibly hard for the car to accelerate, it would only go 5 mph while i would try to drive it with regular pressure on the gas. It was also accompanied by a loud roaring noise. How do i know if the cold weather had an effect or ifits a transmission problem. Any Ideas???? HELP!!

What if one of the drive shafts is broken? i have a similar problem with my Vitz , we have poor roads this side and i insisted the mechanic first check the drive shafts but he says its the tranny. HE unwillingly checked one of the hafts and said it was completely fine although sometimes i hear sounds coming from them when im driving and sometimes i 'lose' contact with my wheels and the engine revvs up but car has no torque when im driving over bumpy road! it snaps back again when i shake the wheel!

1995 Camry is leaking oil on exhaust although doesn't leak when idle only when the gear is in Drive it leaks

What motor? It is probably the rear cam cover gasket and the distributor shaft o-ring seal leaking, a very common situation in this model year. If you replace them, use genuine Toyota parts, as the aftermarket ones do not last in this repair.

Toyota 1996 camry check engine light on, Steering hard, engine off itself.. any idea?

The first thing to find out is what trouble code the car's computer is storing. The check engine light tells you that there is a code available to enable you to home in on the trouble.
If the car will not move, follow the procedure in here, p296, by using a short bit of wire to connect terminals TE1 and E1 in Relay Block 5 under the hood.

Then look up the trouble code.

Want to know the meaning of the following in 2000 toyota camry automatic model 1.I know that P is Parking, 2.R is Reverse, 3. D is Drive. What is the remaining

The remaining positions are to put the transmission into a lower gear and keep it there. You don't really need those under normal conditions...but if, say, you are trying to tow something up a steep grade, you may need to keep the car in second gear, so you would move the shifter to the 2 position.

1994 Toyota Camry automatic. All forward no reverse

are you sure it is first gear it is making when in 1. In park does the car lock up if you try to push it with the handbrake off. If not your problem is adjustment of the cable i.e. although the lever is in reverse the gearbox isn't.
Cheers John
