I'm having an electrical problem with my 1999 Subaru Legacy. It will only start when I jump it with another vehicle. I rrecently eplaced the battery with a brand new battery. It started then but it won't hold a charge overnight. The alternator is putting out 13.3 to 13.5 when it's running. What should I check next?

Re: Electrical Problem with 1999 Subaru Legacy
Hi there, your alternator is not putting out enough, subbies should put out about 14.4v and just after starting should put out 40-60amps. charge the batt that is in it now with a small (3.5-6amp) charger overnight then start the car and LOAD TEST the batt and alternator at a battery shop. ask them to put a carbon pile load tester on your system. im pretty sure they're gonna tell you its the alternator. many thanks, hope this helps!

Sounds like weak connection somewhere,I would start by one at a time, clean by scraping the prongs of each fuse. If this does not resolve your issue go by one of the parts houses that provide free electrical and charging system checks
You have a fuel level sending unit that is not working properly. It is located inside the fuel tank.
Also, when you ask for help with your vehicle it would be very helpful if you could mention WHICH "Legacy" we are talking about. It seems that Subaru got "stuck" on the Legacy name - there are actally 9 choices for "Legacy" just for your model year. (see list below) There are also 2 different engines available for that year a 2.2L and a 2.5L.
there is nothing worse to chase down than an intermittent electrical problem.the computer will only lead to the area if there is a code stored.
check all plugs are secure and all grounds.with it running, wiggleall the wiring harnesses and connectors and see if it dies.it may be heat related,so take a blow dryer and heat a few sensors to see if that causes a failure.
