98 camry fuse keep blown when i put in drive

well lets try a couple things to see if we can solve your issue. first off, do not start the car but turn the key to the ign. does the fuse blow? if no step on the brake. did the fuse blow? if no then put the gearshift from park to drive. did the fuse blow? did it blow? last of all look and see if you can tell me what the fuse that blows is in what circuit. Try those steps let me know what you come up with and ill be able to give you better info. thanx, rick.

Cluster fuse blows out

You need to take the car to an Auto Electrician. This is a clear case of a stripped positive + wire making contact with the body of the car thus shorting out the fuse. Do not attempt to put in a higher amp fuse to try and resolve the matter. The fact that the fuse blows if a safety measure that prevents the car's wiring system from completely burning out. Save yourself this headache and take the car for an electrical system test. Explain to the Auto Electrician that this happens when you put the car in reverse - and he my have to completely rewire the reverse light and reverse switch in the gearbox.

IF a 10 amp blows you have a head short past the fuse . If it takes some time to blow the short may be at 9.5 amps on an intermittent basis or an occasion that the bare wire touches earth. Look at all the wires and harness and look for burn spots or places where the wires are pinched. Look for wire fault on the shifter area as it is most likely being pinched on the shifter movement.

2001 mercury grand marquis 15 amp fuse blows blows when put in drive fuse controls speed ometer fuel gauge oil pressure gauge amp gauge

Check under the dash at your Brake pedal interlock switch. It is timed with the gearshift Interlock and Ignition switch. This switch usually gets hit by feet and dislodged or broken. When you shift out of Park, the switch is toggling to a broken piece and shorting out.

The brake interlock switch is at the top half of the pedal lever. The other part of the Interlock uses a rod or cable in the steering column Ignition switch and mates with the shifting mechanism.

Hi! i am having problems with a 10 amp fuse blowing each time in the interior fuse box on my 1998 kia sephia. it runs to gagues such aS FUEL, TEMP. What could be the problem?

Fuses don't actually blow, they melt the link wire/material, when to much current is passed through it.

If the same fuse is always opening, one or more of the items powered by that fuse is shorted out and drawing to much current. With gauge clusters, it can get a little tough to troubleshoot. The best way that I have found is to disconnect all the gauges and then put the fuse in and make sure it doesn't "blow". Then connect, one gauge at a time until it goes again.

id say you have a chaffed wire in your harness somewhere if you dont engage reverse at all while driving. check your wiring harness with an amp gauge.

No power to rear diff lock on 80 series landcruiser

The rear locker will only operate when the centre diff lock is engaged (amber light on dash) and your speed is below approx. 5mph.

If the rear locker indicator does not illuminate, check the 10-amp "Gauge" fuse in the internal fuse panel.

If the light flashes but doesn't become steady, this is probably a siezed / jammed rear locker. On soft ground, repeatedly turn the locker on and off while driving in gentle circles to see if that frees it up. Also, tapping the actuator while an assistant operates the locker can help free it up.

check transfer case electrical switch, sometime if it bad it will also blow the fuse. don't recommend you put any higher fuse than recommend, If the fuse blow there is a short some where and by putting higher amp fuse you might short or burn something else beside the fuse. if that check out than check your transfer case motor, might lock up and not allowing the motor to turn instead it short the fuse. don't drive the car, just leave it in park, put correct fuse amp back in and unplug transfer case electric switch and turn the key on (dont start the car) and see if the fuse blow; if not plug it back in and see if it blow the fuse. if that is not the case, unplug transfer case wire, and do the same and see if it blow the fuse.
