1 Answer

Car Horn 2002 Pontiac Grand AM horn does not work. Checked fuse - OK, tested for voltage at horn, nothing, tested relay- tested ok. I think I need to check the switch in the steering wheel but I don't know how to take it apart and I don't want to damage it.

Try using a 12volt jumper wire directly to the horn from the car battery. also check the ground on the horn. The last thing I would do is pull the steering wheel cover. Make sure the horn is blowing first.

    1. Sorry for the delay we had a visit from GUSTAV here in LA. I have never removed a steering cover on your model auto but I have removed them on a chev and a ford. I looked to the rear or bottom of the wheel and some screws were there. Pull gently after removing the screws. Pay attentiom to the removel process. some springs might pop out. the whole assy rocks back and fourth - . you will also have to dis able the air bag- if you have one. once all is removed you will have to figure out how the switch works. most work on the contact basis. the cover around the colunm might help. I do not recomend you remove the cover. I would take the car to a mech shop. JOHN -LA.

2002 VW Beetle 1.8T\r\nRemoved horns and tested using battery & the both worked, reinstalled & press horn on steering wheel & nothing just hear a clicking noise from where I pushed on steering...

Generally the steering wheel boss switch does not wear out (the horn is not over used!). I would check the fuses and then the relay and if they look OK check the wiring form the relay to the horns for continuity. Use a voltmeter to check that voltage is being supplied to the relay when the horn switch is pressed. Then check that voltage is being output by the relay in response to this voltage input. If this all looks OK then there is some kind of break in the wiring to the horn unit

The horn in my 96 pontiac sunfire isnt working. How would i go abou fixing that?

ok this problem could be in several places. most likely its a blown fuse or more likely a relay.check your owners manual for locations. if its not a fuse or relay then its in the horn itself or possibly in the contacts in the switch. The easy way to find it is unplug the horn have a friend depress the horn button and use a test light to see if you have voltage at the horn.if so replace horn. If not check the fuse if the fuse is blown replace and try again. if the fuse is not blown then check the relay.

Pontiac Grand Prix horn does not work. What is the best way to troubleshoot?

First, always check fuse.
2. If good, use test light at horn with button pressed to see if horn is getting voltage. If yes, replace horn.
3. If no, trace your way back--find horn relay in engine compartment fusebox and listen to see if it clicks when button is pushed. If yes, the wire from the relay to the horn is bad.
4. If no, remove the relay and test the socket for command signal from the horn button. See my tip at for how to check relay socket. If command signal is present, replace relay.
5. If not, the problem is with the wiring from the horn button to the relay.

94 pontiac bonneville horn does not work. i have checked fuse and it is good.

Ok , try this. have an other person push the horn button while you check for voltage at the horn wire. red wire from meter to horn wire and black to ground on car. should get 12 volts, or you can also use a test light. if it light up the circuit is good, or if you read 12 v on meter. replace horn. if not then find horn relay and replace it. sorry i'm not sure where that is located. might have to follow wire from horn back to it . possible under hood on the firewall. if that is not it then the only thing left is the switch in the steering wheel is not making contact. that is all to the horn circuit. hope this helps.

Horn will not work checked fuse relay lost

i would get a circuit light tester and start at the fuse for the horn to see if any voltage is available. then check to see if there is any voltage to the relay. if voltage is available at the fuse but not to the relay the problem is in the horn assembly in the colum if you get voltage to the relay but the horn doesnt work its the relay is bad.horns are also sujeted to the eliments on a pretty regular basis so it could also be a ground issue

Replace horn fuse in fuse panel of 1992 pontiac bonneville

Your fuse box is located on the driver side under the dash board. Up above where your brake and gas pedal are located. There should be a plastic cover that can be snapped off to reveal all of your fuses and on the inside of this plastic cover there should be a diagram of the fuses that are in use.

Horn stopped working, fuse and relay is good

With test light check voltage at horn assembly on both wire's, could only have one, horn assembly itself could be ground, have some one press horn button while checking, if there is voltage replace horn assembly, if no voltage horn pad at streeing wheel bad. that's being fuse and replay are good.

2005 ford taurus horn just doesn't work. I've

The problem can be with the horn pad, the horn relay or the horn itself. Find your horn relay, it should be in the engine compartment fuse box. Remove the relay and test for power at the legs. there should be two legs that have power. If there is power there, take the cover off the relay and plug it back in. Squeez the relay points together and see if the horn works. If the horn still does not work, it is probably the horn itself. If it does work it is probably the horn pad, but you don't want to mess with that because of the air bag. Let a pro do it.

All of this is predicated on the fact that you have checked all the fuses.

Hope this helps

Mercedes ML 320 1998. My horn does not work

About four things to do, first check voltage at horn with key on and button pressed. If voltage there try moving the small gap screw back and fourth a few times. If that doen't work replace horn. If no voltage check fuse and horn relay, you should be able to hear the relay click when you push the horn button, If not and fuse is ok. Switch relay out with another on on the car. If that doesn't fix it check the horn button for continuity.
