I have a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. Both control stems/levers that come off steering column will not work, so I am unable to operate turn signals, high beams, headlights, etc. (left side lever), or any windshield wiper functions (right side lever). The Daytime Running Lights work, and the Hazard Flashers work. Everything in the car is working normally except for the inability to control any features using the levers coming off the steering column. Please help. Thank you! --Pam

Is this my only option? Could it be a problem with a fuse? Do I need to replace both control levers? If I need to get the part(s) online, what is the name of the part(s)?
    Please reply.
    Thank you for your help.

The car has been fixed. The mechanic said there was a short in the wire to the switches. The repair cost was just over $100.

Hi, I recommend you replace the whole set of controls. The part cost is less than $100 online, and the labor is only about an hour. There are several different switch sets for your car, so make sure you get the one that has the options installed in your car. The job requires a steering wheel puller, which you can borrow at Autozone if you would like to do the job yourself.

Removal & Installation Should any function of the switch fail, the entire switch assembly must be replaced.

  1. Set the steering wheel and the front wheels to the straight ahead position.
CAUTION The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before working around the steering column. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bags, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.
  2. Disable the SIR system by disconnecting the negative battery cable and waiting at least 2 minutes.
  3. Remove the steering column lower cover retaining screws.
  4. Loosen the lower section of the instrument cluster hood for clearance, as necessary.
  5. Remove the steering column upper cover.
  6. Remove the airbag screws from the back of the steering wheel, disconnect the wires, and remove the airbag. Place the airbag in a safe location facing up.
  7. remove and disconnect the clockspring
  8. remove the steering wheel nut/bolt and use a puller to remove the steering wheel.
  9. Remove the multi-function switch mounting screws.
  10. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the multi-function switch.
  11. Lift the multi-function switch off the column
NOTE The turn signal flasher and hazard warning flasher are combined into one unit called a combination flasher (combo-flasher). An inoperative or incomplete turn signal circuit will result in an increase in flasher speed. The flasher, which is serviced separately from the switch, is mounted to the back of the multi-function (combination) switch. The flasher is black in color for ease of identification.

To install:
  1. Install the multi-function switch.
  2. Attach the wiring connectors.
  3. Install the multi-function switch mounting screws and tighten to 20 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  4. Install the steering wheel, clockspring, and air bag
  5. Install the steering column covers as follows:
    1. Install the upper cover onto the steering column.
    2. Tighten the lower part of the instrument cluster hood.
    3. Install the lower steering column cover retaining screws and tighten to 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm).

  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  7. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  8. Verify the SIR indicator light flashes 7-9 times, if not, inspect the system for malfunction.
  9. Test the switch functions.

02 sebring t/s flasher locate

The flasher itself is right beneath and beside the hazard switch. To get to it, look underneath the steering column, just behind the steering wheel. On the bottom of the plastic cover that the turn signal lever, wiper lever, and hazard switch protrude from you will see two deeping drilled holes, at the bottom of each you will see a Phillips head screw. Remove these two screws, and pull the two plastic pieces apart. It may take some force as the two pieces are somewhat snapped together on the sides. Once you have removed these two pieces, you will be able to clearly see the flasher on the top isde of the column. It will be on the passenger's side of center, it's prongs plugging into the switch from the front.

I just bought a 99 sebring limited and didnt ask how to turn on the fog lights So how do I

On the steering column. There is the yoke to twist to turn on the head lights. Well on that same yoke, underneath the buttom side facing the dash, look for a little lever, or on some a tiny sliter. Tun on the headlights first, then move the lever. This will turn on the fpg lamps. They will not come on without the headlights on.

The headlights are stuck on high beam.

pull on the signal lever toward you (ceter position). the signal lever controls the head lights either high beam or low beam. if you pull on the signal lever toward you again, you will have high beam temporarily. and if you push the signal lever towards the front, you will have the high beam locked.
