I need to remove to instrument cluster of at 2004 Civic hatchback to attach a pulse counter to the speedometer. Everything is ready to go but I cannot find a way to remove to instrument panel. There are no screws in sight and gentle lifting of the large one piece dash top shows no easy way to remove it. The top must need to come off though as it sits on the instrument cluster.

Anyone know the best way to get to the back of the Instrument cluster ?

Hi raythefish.

The way to replace the lamps in the speedo, is to remove the instrument panel from the dash...You'll find screws holding the surround at the top of the moulding....Lower the steering as much as you can, or remove the steering centre cover (If you have a vehicle fitted with air bags, its safer to stop before you begin) and remove the steering wheel....You'll need a puller....After removing the instrument panel surround....look carefully inside and locate the two screws on either side of the unit and remove them....Gently pull the unit forward and take out the electrical connectors....They are different sizes and cannot be mixed up...They should also be colour coded.....Once these have been removed, (there should be no speedo cable, as on your vehicle I believe that the unit is also electronic) you can remove the whole unit and see the small cube like lamp holders on the rear of the panel....twist them anti clock wise and remove and replace....

Refitting is the opposite of the above....Make sure that the steering is in the straight ahead when fitting back the steering wheel....

Parking lamps and tail lamps blows fuse, dash lights don't work

First thing I would check is all frame grounds... like the negative battery cable and the grounding strap on the passenger side motor Mount to the wheel hub. In any electrical system, lights draw more current than anything (except the battery) when you turn them on... Check the grounds!

I have a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer that just developed a problem with the left turn signal. The left turn signal indicator on the dash is blinking rapidly and the tail light turn signal is out. I change out...

The Trailblazers have a common problem with the printed circuit boards in the tail lamp housing.
Unplug the tail lamp housing at the wiring connector and test for power with a test light. ( With turn signals on) You may have an open circuit in the lamp housing circuit board. Good luck
