Question about Toyota Celica
If I've understood, I believe that you have a gearbox problem....
Sounds like the syncromesh ring on the forth gear....It will need replacement....Ask your repair shop to tell you what the clearance between the syncro ring and the cone was at the time that they fitted the replacement....
The minimum clearance should be 0.70mm....If they can't tell you, find another repair-shop....The job that's needed is one that will require an expert....If you don't want to have the job done again, try for a second hand box....but tell who ever you buy it from, that you'll pay for it once it's fitted and you've driven the vehicle....
This is a problem with some second hand Toyota's.... The syncro rings do give problems....If you are familiar with the technique of double declutching, you may be able to live with it for a while....but it will need attention in the future....You may find that the gear starts jumping out....or it can lock into that gear and may leave you stranded somewhere....
