In 2004,Ford had a flex fuel vehicle that would allow you to put regular fuel or fuel with up to 10 percent ethanol. I don't think they intended it to run on 100 percent ethanol.You can access the website www.motorcraft.com, there is a technical section where you can post the same question. Good Luck

Why does my buick regal miss constantly especially up hill?

Without knowing the year of the vehicle, I must assume that it is an older, high-mileage vehicle. Things to check:
  1. Tune-up (if the vehicle has not had one in the last 5 years or 25,000 miles);
  2. Check air filter;
  3. Replace fuel filter;
  4. Fuel may be contaminated. Replace all fuel in vehicle;
  5. If the problem persists, check for clogged fuel pickup strainer, proper operation of the fuel pump, and proper operation of the fuel pressure regulator.
  6. Avoid fuels with high ethanol content, and use a fuel system water remover additive when you must use ethanol fuel blends.

Bad gas mileage GMc envoy 2002

thats probably what it gets, tune it up, change air and fuel filters, E3 spark plugs, plug wires, what ever it takes to make it run better, drygas in fuel tank, every fill up, (red bottle, has fuel injector cleaner) todays gasoline has 10% ethanol in it, not good for older cars.

I have a Ford Escort 1992 RS2000 Mk 5, does anyone know how the fuel pump works please ?

Fuel pump runs for 2 seconds when key is turned on when the engine starts it continues to keep pressure at 30 PSI while engine is running, If you are going up hill the fuel regulator will kick in increasing fuel rail pressure to 60 PSI If the Fuel Pump does not detect the engine running by th cam shaft or crank shaft sensor the pump will not run. There is a fuel sock on the pump and a fuel filter as well. If it's not running most likely the Fuel Pump Is bad, The ethanol in the fuel eats the old pumps up and destroys the filter. So if you have not replaced the filter or the fuel sock then it's time to do so now. If you want more information let me know and I will give you more.

(if it is the gas version) disregard if diesel ( dot hav answer for diesel accept for the fuel pump) do not run ethanol in the car, run high octane with 2 cans off octane boost intell the ethanol has ran through... the ethanol is evaporating b4 making it into the intake system causing it to stall,,, and trough errors in the car... (even if you have ran ethanol for a long time, it is a problem that my never go away now) if u can run regular without ethanol

Decreased fuel efficency

The basic things to do first is to make certain that your air filter is clean. You should replace your air filter at least every 12,000 miles or sooner depending on where you live. A better solution is a permanent air filter. A popular one is made by K&M and it just needs to be cleaned once or twice a year. Also, air flow is better with these filters so it could increase your gas mileage.

Spark plugs and wires are important, especially if you have over 50,000 miles on some on the newer cars (they rarely last the 100,000 miles they promise).

If you're using ethanol type fuel (you probably are), you'll notice a considerable drop in gas mileage. My minivan went from about 22 miles per gallon in the city to 17. The highway mileage went from about 28 to 24. Just from the change in fuel.

Other problems are best diagnosed by a knowledgable mechanic. There could be a leak in a vacuum line, time to replace the oxygen sensor (about 100,000 mile life), a malfunctioning sensor...and so on. The car's computer usually, but not always catches most of those.

Bogs down on acceleration

buy 2 fuel filters. buy can of SEAFOAM at parts store. use 1 f filter to replace old one(you'll probably see old looking gas, with an odor).Pour SEAFOAM into tank. fill up with PREMIUM gas. after about 100 miles change out fuel filter 1 last time..add SEAFOAM every 3-5000 miles and you should be fine. the ethanol in the gas turns to goop and adds water to your fuel, and puts carbon on your valves and through out your emission and fuel system. The ethanol will be alright as long as you follow these instructions. and the SEAFOAM will keep you from having line freeze up in the cold months ahead, and will give you better gas mileage. good luck.

2002 dia rio getting 17mpg on e10 (ethanol) fuel. what can i do to improve gas mileage?

Ethanol less energy than gasoline. So your fuel mileage will be less. Also if your engine wasn't engineered to run on you could damage the engine.
