I have the same problem with a 1995 Toyota Camry, you cannot lock all the doors from the switch on the drivers side or passenger side. The locks will cycle to the locked position and they cycle back to unlocked. I have tried everything i can think of and it is comming down to the actual lock itself, I believe may be causing the issues, there has to be some sort of position indicator on the lock or a trigger. One of these locks I think is causing the issue but I will have to tear them all apart and possibly meter the switches to find out which one is the culprit.

I have an 06 Elise (polar blue, tour pack, optional wheels, LSD withtraction control) that I have been driving regularly weekdays from homein Bellevue to U. of Washington campus in Seattle (about 13 miles eachway). The car now has about 650 miles on it.

Friday, Feb. 3, the driver's side door came open as I was coming out ofmy driveway. I stopped on the street and closed it again, but it pushedopen. I closed it a couple more times, each time more firmly, and atthat point it no longer pushed open so I drove on. I made one shoppingstop on the way to school and as far as I recall the door opened, closed, locked, unlocked, and opened normally. Then at school I closedand locked the door normally. All the locking operations were with thefob and the power locks, as I have been told the mechanical door locksare redundant--or extra protection perhaps.

Then, upon leaving to go home I opened the door and got in to driveaway. However, the door did not latch. Then I closed it several times, more and more firmly, and could not get it to latch. So finally Iactuated the key fob and the lock to try to keep it closed. That didkeep it closed--so much so that I could not get the door open again. When I got home, I crawled across the passenger seat and out thepassenger door.

Monday morning I called my dealer, Park Place Ltd., and took the car tothem (entry and exit via passenger door). They could not open it rightaway. They said they had had several cars with door lock problems, butmine was the most severe they had seen. They kept the car overnight andby this morning the locking and latching mechanism had been repaired. The mechanic said he had to file some parts to get it to work, and thenhe lubricated it well. They have an order in for some replacementlocking mechamism that is supposed to be an improvement on the original.

Anyone else here have a similar experience? I only learned that thereis no mechanical backup for the electrical locking mechanism when Itook delivery of the Custom cars (Jan 3 as I recall) and I said to the salesmanat the time that I did not like that idea. Little did I expect to havea problem with it so soon.

Also, they are ordering for me some kit to improve the AM radio reception.

SOURCE: Power Door Lock Problem

The last post by maddog1321 was exactly what I had with my right rear door. The electric locks would not lock and unlock, and you almost couldn't do it manually without my feeling I was about to break something. I took the door panel off, oiled everything and got no relief. Finally, I saw the above post and drilled out the aft-most pop-rivet. THE WINDOW WORKED PERFECTLY! I didn't drill out the forward (closest to the handle) pop-rivet because I wanted to do one at a time so the solenoid would not fall out of place. I then put a new pop-rivet in place of the one I drilled out. I then reinstalled everything and the locks work like new.

SOURCE: Drivers Door Lock Problem

You will probably need to replace the power door lock actuator.

Here's a link to one similar to yours.

You can probably get a used one from a salvage yard.

2007 toyota avalon keyremote won't open or lock my doors

1) Check the battery, or replace the battery in the keyless remote transmitter 2) If battery is replace and still a no go, see if the power locks would open and close with the door lock/unlock switch in your car, and if they do, then your remote transmitter needs to be reporgram agian. If not then the power switch is damaged, or fuse blown. If transmitter needs reprogramming, please take it to your nearest dealship and they can do that for you, either free of charge or for a small fee.

Outside handle on 1997 Toyota Avalon will not open door

Since you can get the door open, half the battle is already won. Yes, open the door, pull the interior door panel and take a look around. Watch inside with a flashlight (towards the rear of the door) as you roll the window down to see if you can see what it's snagged on.

Trunk latch (electric) does not work on Avalon Touring

Your trunk master switch is probably off. Open the glove box, and, on the driver side of the glove box, the trunk master switch is located there. If this is activated, the remote and the dash switch are deactivated. Please repost if this does not solve your problem.
