Hi, check that you put H T Leads on correct plug, its easy to get them wrong if all were disconected at the same time. If they are correct then i think you may have head gasket trouble, test compression on each cylinder to determin this,All the best,Phil

check the injector is working if you hold on to it you should feel a pulse it can be probed with a led light if you have one .the cable may have no power to it. if it checks out ok ,make sure there is a good spark at the plug. if ok check cylinder for compression.

I bought a used 1995 for escort. it has a miss an is getting worse. i changed the spark plugs. i took the spark plug wires off one at a time. 3 of them made the miss worse and 1 did nothing. it's

Not without more testing.
It could be a fuel problem or something mechanical like a valve.
You would do a compression test next to verify all 4 cylinders have normal compression.
If they do, and that 4th plug wire was providing spark to the plug, I would expect you to find something going on with the injector.

Got a 89 ford festiva , we just rebuilt the motor and the car ran good for 3 days then started missing. Did compression check and all the same across the board. all plugs are getting spark but when you...

rpm will drop when u pull a spark plug wire, i'm assuming this does not happen when u pull # 4 plug wire. This tells me # 4 jug is dead, no compression and not firing.

Firing Order diagram for 2006 Ford Explorer

Hope this helps. The ignition coil:
  • changes low-voltage pulses from the PCM to high-voltage pulses.
  • fires 2 spark plugs simultaneously.
  • has 3 transformers.
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 5
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 2 and 6
    • One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 3 and 4
Spark plug wires:
  • carry high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.
The spark plugs:
  • change high-voltage pulses to spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.
The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

What tuneup should I do at 65000

no tune up needed until 100000 miles. run a couple of fillups of Shell or Chevron premium gas thru it to clean out fuel system and clean engine. Walmart fuel station also have gas additive you can buy with your gas.

My check engine light is on and the code is reading p0304 what could be the problem

You have a Misfire at Cylinder #4 meaning:
Dirty, fouled or malfunction Spark Plug at #4 Cylinder. Remove the Spark Plug and check the igntion (spark end).
Ignition (Spark Plug) Wire malfunction for #4 Cylinder.
Misfire from the Coil/Distributor at the #4 connection from Cylinder #4.
Get a Spark Plug/Wire/Coil/Distributor tester and check the Spark Plug, Wire and Coil.
I always recommend changing everything in sets meaning: Change all Spark Plugs and Wires.

I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and it started missing about a week ago and has progressively gotten worse, but it only misses when you accelerate or the engine gets in a bind (like going up hill) any...

How many miles? Have you ever serviced the spark plugs? I will assume it's a 5.4 V8, since it's more common than a 4.6.

In my experience with 5.4's, at about 120-140k miles, the coil-on-plugs tend to start dying. You will only feel the miss on acceleration and under heavy load, but may feel a slight wobble when the truck is at idle.
Not knowing how experienced you are with vehicles, I will give a slight overview. The traditional older vehicle has a single coil that delivers high-voltage to all of the spark plugs to cause the spark and ignite the fuel in the cylinders.
On these newer vehicles, each spark plug has it's own coil that is attached to the spark plug.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to determine which coil is not firing without unplugging the wiring harness on each coil and seeing if the behavior of the engine changes.
However, in my experience, once one coil dies, the others aren't far behind. It may be worth your while to change them all at once.
The downside is, they are not cheap at about $43/ea at autozone. The upside, is they are extremely easy to change yourself. Simply unplug the electrical connector off of each coil at the spark plug. Then remove the 8mm bolt that holds down the coil. Pull off the sparkplug and replace.

I changed a full set in the parking lot of a hotel in South Fl last year, and it took me about 1 hour.
