the problem is the dual mass flywheel which if any of you so called experts had diagnosed i would have gladly paid twelve pounds for as is sussed out myself thanks any body wanting advice feel free to get in touch more than happy to help any one free of charge ( ps just realised that is someones good will comment ) i have never come across one of these assemblies before basically the original clutch never had any shock springs in the friction plate so they put a mechanism in the fly wheel well versed on spanner work new to me ! any aspect of dropping gearbox or fly wheel

You will have to pull the gear box and the transfer case and determine the cause by tearing them dowm for inspection.

Hi guys I have d22 a 1991 navara 5 speed manual, diesel.its making a squeling noise when using clutch now just sometimes in wont go into 4th gear its like neutral,,,any ideas whats going on,,,cheers

the sound is maybe coming from the release bearing on its way out.
The gear selection issue can be the pressure plate.
i would check the clutch hydraulics first if thats okay.
next check transmission oil level and condition
if that checks out replace the clutch kit
being a diesel it will have a dual mass flywheel those cannot be reconditioned must be replace

How do i disengae from four wheel drive

At best as I know the 2005 Prado is all time 4WD vehicle.
Is the engine running ? Can you shift the gears ?
May be something is broken in the drive train...
As a suggestion you can go home by locking the centre differential, proceeding at low speed and checking for noises .
Pls. let me know if it helps...

Hi the problem you are having is going to be with the clutch plate you will find that it has worn down to the metal pins and has no actual clutch plate left.

What is happening is that when you put the car in gear and let the clutch up the clutch is slipping on the plate instead of gripping and this is why you loose the drive.

To solve this problem your going to need to buy a clutch repair kit if your doing the sork yourself or get someone else to fit the parts for you.

Your going to need to replace the following:
pressure plate
clutch plate
thrust bearing.

dont try driving the car as it is as you could cause damage to the gearbox if the clutch plate and pressure plate shatter so its not worth trying to move the car until you have had the clutch fixed.

getting the clutch replaced involves removing the gearbox from the engine and this is best done with the car on ramps as the gear box will come out from the bottom of the car so it needs to be high enough off the floor to allow you to remove the gear box, its not a hard job if you have done it before but it is heavy work and if you have not done this before then your best getting someone else to replace the clutch for you.

getting the clutch changed will solve your problem and get you up and running again in no time.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

6.5Lchev diesel to a ford ZF 5 speed gear box

You will need the Chev pressure plate to suit the Chev flywheel and a clutch plate to suit the Ford ZF gearbox. Ford ZF throwout bearing and clutch fork should be fine.
