Just un-screw the retainer bolt for the idler pulley. some of them are left hand thread and or require a #50 torx

We are tryng to remove a water pump from a 1998

there is a hole in the pulley for the power steering unit. That hole accesses the bolts to drop this unit down and then you can change the water pump. The trick is getting these two bolts lined back up to reinstall it

How do I remove oil pump pulley to replace the water pump?

If you mean the power steering pump, it will have to be removed to access the bolt. It's just 2 bolts. You get them through the holes in the power steering pump. Just unbolt it and push it aside.

Cannot remove the pulley from my 1991 olds cutlass ciera 's water pump. Its a 4cyl. Plus the new water pump doesn't look quite the same.

I replaced my water pump on my 92 olds, and the pulley will look slightly different because it's newer, but just make sure its the right one. The pulley does not come off of the water pump, both the water pump and pulley have to be changed. Your new one should come with both the pump and pulley already connected

We are changing the water pump in my '94 OLds 88 my other brother suggested we change the idler pulley as well unsure how to do do this is thier a diagram or video on this or what do you suggest

if the pulley is not real loose or noisy when you spin it then leave it alone. Even a new pulley is a little loose as the play comes from the bearing inside it. here is a belt routing diagram you probably don't need. The threads on the pully are left hand thread. use the same wrench you used to remove the belt but go the opposite direction. good luck - here is the diagram you still don't need:http://www.ondemand5direct.com/app/Graphic.asp?S0=2097152&S1=0&SG=%7B9C3C573B%2D1C46%2D4AFC%2DAC24%2DEAD11C64CA9D%7D&YR=1994&MK=144&MD=1567&SM=1847&CAT=49&SCT=213&AG=A00051233&MKN=Oldsmobile&MDN=Eighty%2DEight+Royale&PS=524288&MA=15&SID=1069021359&MF=2&Ill=55360&Fig=9
