Same problem here. Not found a solution yet. I will replace the battery with a  new one before investigating further...It won't solve the problem but at least I won't have to fight it twice!

Similar issue on 2001 Passat. Dead battery has been replaced. Radio does not power on. I have my code, just no opportunity to eneter it as the radio does not power on. Have removed and replaced multiple fuses. (my model does not have the magical #42). Now what?

I had the same problem after a jump start. I removed the radio (with tools from eBay) and replaced the red 10A fuse at the rear of the unit. After this I had to re-enter my security code but it all worked fine after this.

Volkswagen radios have a code u need to enter in the radio. Usually four digits. Look in ur manual, should be there, if not, call the dealer with ur VIN and they should have the code for ur radio.

My 1996 mercedez e320 only starts when I JumpStart

Connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals. While engine off, if the voltage is below 12V it means your battery is either dead or discharged. Once you've jump-started your car, check the battery voltage again. If it's still low (like below 13.5V) it may mean you have a problem with your alternator.
Let me know the voltages and we'll think what to do next.

Car radio/stereo is dead.

Have you jumpstarted the car recently? If so you may have burnt out a fuse. Have you checked the fuses in the fuse box?

My mercedes sat for 10 months while I recuperated from injuries. The battery was completely dead. Remote didn't even work. We were able to jumpstart it with battery cables but it won't keep running. Dead...

You will burn out your alternator if you keep on doing this. The alternator is not a charger. If you have a dead battery you should always charge it overnight on a charger. To keep the battery fresh all that you have to do is disconnect the terminals.Yes this is normal because the car has clocks and alarms that drain power even when the key is off. If you let the battery set to long while it is drained it will not take a charge.

2002 buick lesabre won't jumpstart. Car ran fine

There are a couple of factors here:
  1. If you noticed the car getting harder to start when warm lately, it could be the starter is bad; a bad starter will work when cold but once it heats up, will require more and more power to turn over
  2. Bad battery; a dead battery won't turn the car over even with a jump; it would need a slow charge to work again; even sealed batteries have caps that can be pried open to do a cell check (battery cell checkers inexspensive at the auto parts store) if you have 1 dead cell, the battery needs replacement
  3. Corrosion; just because the posts and cables may be clean at the battery, doesn't mean there's no corrosion on the other ends of the cables
Hope this answers your question and gives you a good place to start. All the best.

Car is completely dead, like somebody shot it dead! No sounds, no light, can't shift out of park into neutral or anything....everything completely dead...no warning whatsoever!

Always clean the battery terminals before jumping. An extremely dead battery may not accept a jump as it serves as a 'buffer" instead of helping. If you do get it started, charge battery with a battery charger then have alternator and battery tested for proper operation and check belt condition and tension as well.

It is no Problem to Jump. Just connect the + to + and - to - and BE SURE Not to Touch the Cables TOGETHER as this will ERASE the Computer Systems on the Vehicles. Let me know if you need more Help!
