Water leaking from black box under neath the car

I thought a hose had broke but when I crawled under the car it is leaking from a black box on the passenger side where it is bolted together. I have no idea what the box is called. maybe you would know.

I was driving the car and it started over heating. I had problems with a couple of the hoses before, and thought that might be the problem again. Once the car was home, I ran pressure through the radiator, and found that the leak wasn't coming from a hose, but from a black box on the passenger side of the car. I know that the leaking fluid is coolant, and I believe that the leak is coming from where the bottom part of this 'box' is bolted onto the top.

So that means I need to replace the heater core or is there a seal that cold be leaking leaking? I can see where the bolts hold it together. I would just like to know a bit more so I can talk to my son in the morning about it. He always thinks I am so clueless about cars.

if the leak is comming from your heater core that is located on that side of the car.

no there are no seals there are hose conections and chances are either the hose to heater core is rotted or the heater core is the problem.usually you don't have to take it to a shop it takes some time but if your son can do this it will save you money in shop labor. you can get the heater core from Napa or Oreillys for a minimal cost. if it's a lose hose clamp or a hose that still won't cost much. remove and install is just tedious and it takes a lil time is all I hope this helps.

Leaking under neath heating unit but it's not the hose but a little white knob underneath unit

ac drain . There could be a blockage in the AC drain pipe that runs under the car. This can usually be unblocked with compressed air they jack up vehicle takes 30 seconds to fix with vehicle hoist.
When it blocks up the AC unit builds up with water and leaks clear water inside the car. if it was green water it would be the heater core leaking coolant.

4 cyl., 5 speed. Why is it leaking somewhere under the frame - not transmission fluid

Smell the fluid. If it smells like gasoline you have a gas leak. If it smells like antifreeze you could have a hose or a anti freeze cooler line leaking. Or could be a water pump leaking and running along the frame under the car. Get a flash light and crawl under neath the vehicle and see where the fluid is coming from.

There is a black hose with a metal like hose attach on each end, right above you manual gear box. It can be seen a little from above but better from under neath the car engine on the right hand side. check to see if the hose look wet from oil like substance, if thats the case you found the problem. If not check your "Master cylinder or Slave cylinder mite be back. I have the same problem, when the fluid leaks the clutch is unable to build the pressure needed to out the car into a gear. Hope this helps. (>:

No heat out vents/floor vents

usually the problem is a small vacuum leak for the hvac system. start by checking the small plastic hoses near the a/c drier (the black cylindrical thing) at rear of engine compartment on the passenger side. typically it is a black plastic hose about 1/8 inch thick. you car repair by using a short piece of vacuum hose as a splice to put the two pieces together, make sure the hose fits snuggly on the plastic hose. hope this helps

You may have a seized engine. Disconnect the battery, crawl
under the car with the right sized crankshaft bolt socket and
ratchet, and see if you can manually turn the engine over. If
it won't turn, I'm sorry to tell you, that your engine is "Toast"
Good luck.

The hoses have seal in them that can wear out. The system is supposed to be repaired by a specially licensed mechanic. The freon inside eats up the ozone.
But you may be able to get the special tool at the part store that is made to remove the condioner. Otherwise, you will have to pry the plate and pull at the same time.

It should be under your hood, on the firewall. Should be a short black hose there somewhere.
