My kid set off the panic alarm. I couldn't get the alarm to turn off. I finally did but the headlights flash on and off. I disconnected the battery and when reconnected it's back to the same flashing light problem. Also it will not shift out of the park position. What is going on. I tried to call Honda, but the CSR didn't have a clue.

Yes, I just tred that. Being that the horn is dead and can only use the shift lock release switch to get it out of park. It may be a fuse. The alarm was going for approx five minutes. Headed to Auto Zone to get some fuses.

    Thanks,

    Karen

Did you turn the key in the door lock? Or just shut it off with a remote? Try turning the key in the driver's door a few times, lock, then unlock, back and forth a few times - you may be able to reset the alarm that way. Try it, leaving it in each position for about five seconds, and after doing it, try starting the car. No guarantee but it's worth a shot since using the key in the driver's door is the backup for using the remote to arm/disarm the alarm system.

YES... I had this SAME problem! NOT FUN! My nerves are shot from my car alarm going off of my 1999 Honda Accord EX... if I opened the door, closed the door, turned the car on, turned the car off....or even just look at the car it would go off! ha ha... BEEPS and HONKS LOUD! Stressful! Draws a crowd! It would go off after 2 long minutes but seems like 10 minutes! Then starts all over again! Finally a nice stranger older man came and disconnected my horn! BUT my lights would still flash etc.. I got the car home... lights flashing etc.. better than that LOUD horn! My ears are still ringing! I just searched the internet and looks like this happens A LOT to the 1999 Honda Accords! So I called dealer and the mechanic never heard of this ...WHAT? Said we had to bring it in to diagnose the problem.. UGH! That is TIME and MONEY! Plus they could not get me in for 3 days!!!! So... found this site and the person who posted a TRY THIS... put the key in the drivers door and unlock door with key (keep key in) hold it and count... to 10 then turn key other way to lock car ... count to 10 .. do this a few times... My husband and I just tried it and IT WORKED!!!! THANK YOU!!!! My horn still is not working... BUT I am in NO HURRY to plug the horn honking part back in! ha ha... I am still gun shy about that but adventually will probably do that ... then if I have this problem again I will try the key thing when it happens... ????? All this makes me want a new car! (: I kind of wish we could just somehow cut the factory car alarm because who really needs it? I so do not like car alarms! BUT if we tried that I am sure it would mess up the sterio or something! UGH!
Hope this helps others...

I was experiencing a nearly identical situation and I just tried the driver's side door lock - hold to the left for 5 seconds, then 5 seconds to the right and it worked. The alarm has reset and life is good, thanks j_del!

Praise Jesus!!! And THANKS a million to Jeremy Dellow along with the proprietors of this website! I have a 2002 Honda Odyssey and the same thing happened to me this afternoon. I read the comments and solutions and tried the key thing parkways and counterclockwise and it worked!!! I feel sane again.

If your car came with the Prestige Alarm unit, there is a possibility that the alarm box got deprogrammed or burned, and left the anti-theft activated. Use the Valet Switch to deactivate the alarm permanently, and see if the car starts. For some reason unknown to me, it takes a couple of cycles of crank/ take the ignition switch off, crank again for the Valet Switch to work. In my 98 Accord, this micro-switch is installed in the left front kicker panel, but there is no guarantee that it will be in the same place in you accord, since it is a dealer installed option

98 honda accord car alarm will not let car start.

Try chaning the main relay. It is $60 at the dealer, cheaper on e-bay. There is also a way to repair the sodlering connection on it if you want to try and save some money. Check youtube for a video on how to rapir main relay on Honda's. Any questions, e-mail me at [email protected]

98 celica battery went dead replaced now it want crank

Try this: Unhook the battery. Reconnect the battery. When the horn starts to beep, cycle the ignition key in the ignition on-off 5 times. This resets the alarm; the cycling of the key. Please advise me if this works for you.
