Question about 1999 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Lesabre The plugs and wires were replaced. Could it be the ignition coil that the # 6 plugs in to? Can an ignition coil be tested? Can the fuel injector be cleaned? The car runs smooth in idle/park and it appears to run smooth when moving above ~10 mph. Thanks

The way i check the coil is move it to another cyl clear the codes and see if it follows the coil. injectors can be cleaned but when they are bad enough to cause a code to be set it needs to be replaced.

It dies while I'm driving it and I put it in park and it will not restart. What's wrong with it?

Could be a lot of things ! It could be ignition related or fuel delivery problem . Would have to test to say what is wrong for sure . Pull plug wires off one coil an crank the engine , turn the key to the start position. Do you see an hear a spark ? Buy yourself a fuel pressure gage an hook it up to the fuel rail test port an check fuel pressure . Could have a ignition control module problem , bad crankshaft position sensor , Fuel pump ,plugged fuel filter . Have you ever replaced spark plugs an wires , air filter , fuel filter ?

Replaced clogged 2002 grand am inline fuel filter. Engine turnes over and attempts to start but will not crank. The engine is receiving plenty of fuel. Could the computer- ized engine timing be off? If so,...

try drying out the plugs possibly flooded,, if its flooded try drying the plugs out and let the engine sit to dry the cylinders out.. the timing never goes out on computerized ignition, replace the plugs and ignition wires and test the coil resistances. 3 coils test between each coil where the ignition wires go KEY OFF, they should be 5 to 6 thousand ohms each if not replace the bad coil.. also did you pinch the fuel line check it for kinks ...good luck

My 1999 buick lesabre will not start. I have gasoline and the battery is good.

Hmm, do you have spark? fuel pressure must be between 30 - 40 psi test the ignition coils by connecting an ohmmeter between the coil towers ie 1and 4 with the key in the OFF position do the same with the others as well there are 3 coils all should have readings between 5 an7 thousand ohms if so the secondary side of the coils are good, if there is no spark at all try an ignition module. this is under the 3 coils they sit on the ign module..You can also test and or replace the spark plug wires, if a wire is 10 inches long it should read 10,000 ohms or less.. No more than 1000 ohms per inch is the spec.. hope this helps good luck

No spark at plugs . Engine won't start, check fuel first, getting plenty. Then check for spark, no spark.

Have you checked your plug wires to see that are tight? The plug wire may need replaced.

1991 lesabre wont start after shutting down. If it sits a few hours starts up great again. changed plugs, plug wires, coil pack, and Ignition control module but still same problem. ran a little rough but...

Best to do a fuel pressure test, pump might be weak and dosent show up until it gets gets warm. Best to do the test after it quits again when pump is at its hottest. If you havent done it yet chg. fuel filter too.
