Question about 1995 Honda Civic

1 Answer

No response? The problem Im having is that the car wont do anything at all once I turn the key. The radio, wipers and horn work and it will start if push-started. I thought it could be the starter but Im not sure, anything suggestion that you can give me will be greatly appreciated

It's the starter. The starter basically initiates a rotational motion in the engine that helps power it. I've had the same problem before.

No radio, no lights, no start = dead battery. Even with key off, lights should come on if battery isn't dead

Nobody can seem to find what prevents my car from running. Does anybody know a good troubleshooter

Eric, that's a fairly broad problem. Does the 'vette run at all? Does it start? Does the engine turn over but won't start? Does ANYTHING happen when you turn the key to "Start". If not, do you have power to lights, horn, wipers, radio, etc? We need a point of reference to start diagnosing this problem.

i am a tech at a ford dealership. it sounds like you have a short some wheres around your steering column that maybe what we call "backfeeding" to other systems. the area where the tilt is on the steering column is a good place to check. also remote starters can cause alot of havoc on a vehicle.

Wont start

Could be an electrical problem. Clean your battery connections. Sounds like you are not getting voltage to the ignition coil. Check fuses. Check if horn, wipers, turn signals are working. Try this test: turn on headlights and then turn ignition key to start. The headlights should dim if the starter solenoid is engaging. You did not mention if it is manual or automatic transmission but most cars have an interlock switch that prevents the car from starting if it is in gear.

There are batteries in your radio key, which is often referred to as a key less entry device. Go to your local parts store, or to the dealership who represents your cars manufacturer and have them replace the batteries in the key less entry device.
