    Does your car have delayed exit, if so the courtesy light switch may be sticking, since that tells the system to turn off the radio it stays on.

It sounds as if the it is wired to a perminant live. Rewire the unit to the ignition so when you turn the engine off the stereo will go off. Also fit an inline fuse before the stereo.

- ensure the interior light control switch is set to turn on with door.

- the stereo may continue to run if the key is left in the ignition.

Burned drk blue/red wire now parking lights stay car shut off 1997

The lights are getting power and ground from somewhere. If they're not getting it from the light switch, then it probably has something to do with the blue/red wire you mentioned. If you disconnect the wires from the switch what happens? You don't give much info as to type of vehicle. Removing the fuse for the lights in question does what? If you have no more parking lights once you remove the fuse for the parking lights that's a good thing. It means the issue is limited to that circuit. This kind of problem would normally be in the switch, but since you had the burned wire incident I'd focus there. Also you need to find out why the wire "toast"ed in the first place. Good luck.

I hooked up an after market stereo and then lost my instrument panel, dome, and parking lights. the fuse is fine. Wher is the plug located for all those lights?

your lighter, dome light are on the same circuit. parking lights check relay switch in engine fuse box. should correct your problem. and by the way I would rewire car stereo

05 Chev Aveo stuck in park

I also own a 05 Aveo, same problem without the new stereo, could be your brake light switch I just replaced it and now get out of park no problem ($18.00) Autozone. 2nd problem could be your Brake Transaxle Shifter Interlock Solenoid. Save money ask Dealer for printout on how to install, I did. I hope this info helps out. P.S. try replacing brake switch first.

Battery discharegd every 4th days if the car is parking

Hi,
Possible causes for battery being discharged while installed in a vehicle could include among others:
  • a shorted diode (out of 6) in the alternator;
  • dome/courtesy light left on or switching on;
  • faulty/wet,corroded door switches;
  • false triggering of the alarm;
  • partially faulty car stereo system (memory retention).
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
