Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
After installing a battery my car keeps cutting off. Does anyone knows what cause this
Unplug the battery. Let the car sit for 20 minutes. Reconnect the battery. Start the car along with the AC. Let it run for 15 minute. (Dont touch anything!) Then take her for a spin around the block, shut it off and restart and it should be fine.
Apperantly the montero has a computer that looses it driving/engine operating settings and defaults to factory. By letting the car sit with no battery your telling the the computer to recalibrate the next time it starts up. I just did it and it worked!
FYI My symptom after installing a new battery was: "it would not idle". It would die as I came to any stop.

The problem happened to me on my sport and it turned out to be fouled spark plugs due a lean condition caused by a clogged fuel filter.

If your car keeps cutting out is because you might have a loose connection to the battery. if your vehicle is running and it looses connection with battery it should still stay running. if it dies it means that you have a bad altenator.
