Question about 1996 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Won't start I have a 1996 buick lasabre. I was driving down the street and mistakenly hit a pothole. All of a sudden the car lost power and cut off. I tried to boost my battery, but to no avail. The lights won't come on, nor will the car make a sound when I try to crank the engine. What happened to my car?

That sounds like you have a loose ground cable or positive or both to the battery. there is also a fuel cutoff switch in the trunk behind the fabric. make sure you check this . generally in a rollover or accident the switch will trigger and the fuel stops killing the engine. hitting the pot hole could do this as well. make sure all your connections to the battery are clean and tight. hope this helps please rate this solution. thank you.

Intermittant warning light after hitting pothole. When accelerating lose all dash including speedometer and tacometer.

My first guess would be a wiring problem in the engine compartment. Something is breaking contact when the engine moves back and forth.
Could be something around the battery or alternator, or a ground wire.

How to reset the alarm on my buick lasabre won't let me start my car

If you have a key with a computer chip inside, you may need to try another key. The ignition lock "reads" the resistance in your key to let the ignition work. If you only have one key you may need to get a new one.

Hit a pot hole - car lost fuel power still will try to turn over but no ignition 1998 Ford Mustang

If you hit the pothole hard enough, your fuel cut-off may have actuated. Locate the cut off, (some of them are around the steering post towards the firewall) and push to reset.

1996 ford escort died when i was driving right after i went over a small pot hole and will not start. It was low on gas..could iy be the fuel filter

Ford vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump cut off switch that will shut power to the fuel pump in the event of a collision. By hitting the pothole, there was probably enough "force" making the switch mistakenly shut off the fuel pump. The switch should be located in the trunk either on the left or right side. Locate the switch and press the reset button. If it clicks when pressed, then the switch was activated. Try starting the car. If it starts, then that was the problem. I own a 1997 Ford Escort and the same thing happened to me...the pothole caused enough "force" thereby the switch took it as an impact. I hope this helps you out.

1996 buick lasabre

A 1996 Buick Lasabre is a front wheel drive (FWD) car, so the front of the motor is facing the front passenger side wheel of the car. That said, the power steering fluid reservoir should be close to the front passenger side wheel tower.

Buick shakes, guns then almost stops

this sounds very much like a torque converter/transmission issue. i will assume the transmission dial you're speaking of is the tachometer? which measures engine revolutions per minute. to confirm, one could possibly unplug 4-wire connector on transmission near radiator and test drive. this keeps the transmission from going into torque converter lock-up.
