8 series BMW will not shut off despite both batteries disconnected

Any car won't shut off when you disconnect the batteries as once the engine is running the alternator now provides power supply to everything, sounds like you have a faulty ignition switch, for future reference if when you to your vehicle off it keeps running then pull the fuel pump fuse, then disconnect the battery to prevent battery going flat.

Not getting power to the fuel pump but pump runs if you wire straight to battery

First check your relay fuse associate to the fuel pump. second I believe that it could be a fuel pump shut off switch that has been tripped. For older model, I believe it is on top of the engine, towards the firewall linked with your fuel line under your hood, it may have gotten tripped, and all you need to do is press on thsi button. You might want to google, or check your owners manual book to see where exactly this cut off switch is located.

Fuel pump not coming on when the key is turned new pump was installed

The pump switches on short time when you switch on the ignition. The purpose of this to make sure before start up, the fuel system is primed, then it shut off until the ECU is in complete operating mode. This also ensures seals have a longer life from continues pressure build up.

To check the fuel pump manually, you need to locate the fuel pump relay in the breaker box. With a jumper wire inserted to the (+) load side and manually switch it to turn on. This procedure is also necessary when testing fuel system operation requiring for constant flow of fuel.

No power to fuel pump - 2000 Chev Silverado 2500 series???

Whe you turn the key to the on position you should hear the fuel pump working for about 5 seconds. If not replace the engines oil pressure switch for the fuel pump is linked to this part. Once the engine reaches normal operating oil pressure the computer shuts the circuit off to the third wire from the oil pressure switch which is linked to the fuel pum feed and the computer then turns on the fuel pump relay to operate the pump

Fuel Pump Circuit Operation When the ignition is switched to the ON position, it turns the EEC Power Relay on. The EEC Power Relay provides power to the EEC-IV processor and the control side of the fuel pump relay. Power for the fuel pump is supplied through a fuse link or high current fuse attached to the starter solenoid (battery side). From the fuse link or high current fuse, current flow is through the fuel pump relay and Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch to the fuel pump. The IFS switch is a safety device used to shut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision. If the IFS switch is "tripped," it must be reset by depressing the white or red button on the top of the switch. The fuel pump relay is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the fuel pump will operate. If the ignition switch is not turned to the START position, the PCM will shut the fuel pump off after approximately one second. The PCM will operate the fuel pump when the ignition is in the START position to provide fuel while cranking.
After the engine starts, the PCM will continue to operate the fuel pump unless the engine stops, engine speed drops below 120 rpm, or the IFS switch is "tripped."

System Diagnosis Note: Grounding the FP lead at the DLC will allow the pump to run continuously with the ignition switch on.
