I have a 2001 expedition that well not start. I can hear the fuel pump come on but it won,t start. It turns over so I check the fuses they are good. so what do I check next. Thanks Jimmy K.

I think he could be right here and it needs a rebiult computer

Cranks and not turn over,you need fuel pressure, and you need to have spark at the sparkplugs,when you crank it do you hear the fuel pump humming at least?This is a good place to start crank it and listen for the fuel pump,you should at least hear it when you turn the key on

Check that area again that you used to tamper with to get it to start. If you already had an issue, then it is more likely that this issue has become worse over time. Check this first before continuing. It sounds like your fuel safety switch was faulty to begin with.

Ran out of gas and What?

Could have ruined an already worn fuel pump

Turn key on/engine off should hear pump run
for 3 or 4 seconds

Check fuel pressure if it runs with a gauge on
injector fuel rail or with a professional scan tool
data.

Try spraying the throttle body to see if it will run

Try disconnecting the battery AFTER you check for
codes,stored data, etc & write down what you get

COULD BE FUEL PUMP,CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY. LISTEN FOR FUEL PUMP OPERATION IN FUEL TANK WHEN YOU TURN IGNITION ON POSITION YOU SHOULD HEAR FUEL PUMP RUN FOR 3 SECONDS AND TURN OFF.

Try checking your fuses or relays if all good might be the fuel pump this happens when it always low on fuel it sucks trash when low on fuel.

hope in turn key on not to crank or start you should hear a grunt sound that is fuel pump no grrrrr sound no pump!!!!

Do you have fuel pressure now since adding fuel?
Maybe you did not run out of gas ......but just happened to run out of fuel pressure caused by a bad fuel pump at a low fuel level?
Maybe you need a fuel pump.

turn on the switch, can you hear the fuel pump run?
if so checke the fuel filter,and also release the pressure at the shredder valve on the fuel rail
if you cant hear the pump run then then check the fuse for it if its good then youve got a bad pump!!!
