You could have a leak either at the throttle body, injector rail or a small craack in the intake. also i would check to see that the fuel lines to the injector rail are secure and tight

I can smell gas in the cab of the windstar van but dont see any leeks but it built up presure when i opened the gas cap

The fuel smell is likely a leak in teh evaporative emissions collection system, or the fuel fill pipe or vent tube leaking. When you open the gas cap, it should relieve pressure, this is normal. Look under the rear for signs of wet spots of fuel leaking or broken or disconnected hoses that carry fuel vapors from the gas tank to the canister for storage, report back.

I had fuel pump and filter replaced when the car would not start. I have a slight smell of gas inside the car when driving. What could be the cause? 2003 Ford windstar.

The only thing that is going to cause a gas smell inside the car while driving is a fuel leak. You need to get the vehicle up on a lift and inspect the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the fuel rails on the engine. This may or may not be related to the repairs you had done. - It depends on where the leak is...

My f250 gives off a fuel oder

If you have a 4.6L or 5.4L engine you should check with a Dealer with your Vin# and mileage. These engines were known to throw plugs. One of the prelaunch signs is a gas odor. The odor is seepage from the sparkplug hole as the plug spins out. There is an extended Warranty on these engines.

You also can go the route of a fuel leak from the pressure regulator. If you put in a Purolator fuel filter recently, there is a recall. The stubs on the filter were not made properly and can separate from the line clips causing leaks and a fire hazard.

I hope you do not have either problem because both are serious, but need to be checked out as soon as possible. Your truck has a vent system for the fuel tank and the onboard computer will monitor those connections so they are not responsible for the odor.

the feul filter needs to be changed. when you ran your car out of gas you sucked all of the sediment from the bottom of the tank into the fuel filter.

2008 Ford Escape Hybrid Strong odor of gas in Pass. comp. No odor in engine Comp., Could not find any leaks fuel filter cnaister fuel lines. Odor is stronger on passager side. aired it out but still...

lift the back seat and their should be an access panel on the floor pan where you gain access to the fuel sender which houses the fuel pump and i suspect that their is a leak here on the pressure side ,now if your unsure about tackling this type of job please go straight to a local mechanic to have a look for you as the vehicle is dangerous in this condition and could catch fire and petrol vapour is more explosive than liquid petrol.

2001 ford windstar lx too much gas odor ,changed spark plugs & wires, replaced all 4 oxigen sensors and catalytic converter.code detected says running too lean .

You have an Intake manifold leak or a leak in the fuelpressure regulator or fuel line. Most likely you need to check the Intake gasket with a water mist or Carb cleaner spray on the seams. Either one will produce a change in the RPM while the engine is running.

Also clear your computer, which I hope you did after changing all the parts you put on the van. When you get a Vacuum leak in the Intake, the fuel is not drawn into the cylinders properly and the ECU thinks the engine is running lean. The ECU orders more gas and the fuel regulator keeps dumping more gas in the engine.

Now you smell the excess gas, but the priority sensor overrides any secondary sensor saying its rich. The Evaporative Emissions system is flooded trying to reduce the fumes. In the end, you smell the excess gas.

Now both Autozone and Oreillys do free scans and their scanner may suggest more than what your scanner is showing. Check your Intake first, then scan it.

2000 ford windstar gas smell on the inside only no gas leaks already changed the fuel filter the pcv valve is fine as well .where is the smell coming from? and why is it only on the inside and u can't...

Check and see if you have any gas on the ground after you park your car. Check around the gas tank and gas cap. It's possible that the fuel pump (which is in the gas tank) has hoses that may be leaking. If this is a slight leak, it might only manifest itself via a gas odor into the trunk or passenger compartment. It might be a good idea to put the car on a hoist and follow the fuel lines from the engine to the fuel tank. There should a one line that takes the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine and another that brings back the excess. There should also be another line coming out of the fuel tank that is for venting. Unfortunately, the fuel pump and hose connections are not easily accessible and require either removing the gas tank or cutting a hole in the trunk to access it. You should definitely take care of this soon as leaks don't get better, only worse and it is a potential fire hazard. Good luck!

When running does your exhaust have a sweet smell or a rotten egg odor?
If egg odor you probably need a catalytic converter or better gas.
