Hi there, you see todays cars are so emmision friendly that not even the vapors from your tank can be released into the atmosphere so what they have done is all your vapors are put into a charcoal canister to absorb the vapors and the next time you start the car it has a purge solenoid open and burn the vapors off. if you look around the intake youll see a hose with a green cap follow it back to the charcoal canister and while your doing that just check the hoses and the hoses around the canister to make sure there is no holes or cracks in them and then follow the hose from the canister to the gas tank. if every thing looks good then i would replace the purge solenoid.

hi there again, sorry about not getting back with you sooner but my computer jammed up on me i finnaly got it going now on the evap system dont worry its not complicated at all first check from the fuel tank to charcoal canister, its just a solid plasic line that goes from the top of the fuel tank(which you wont be able to see without dropping the tank) just check for cracks or unplugged tees or elbows at the canister. 10 to 1 Im betting that the purge solenoid is bad its usually located by the canister or it on the intake with a two wire connector. now another little place you might check is on the intake. you will see another plastic line coming off the intake going to the purge solenoid it will have a green cap (test port for evap system) see if the line just came off the intake . now you can by a pressure gauge and test it there but im pretty sure youll spot the problem before it gets that far

that is EVAP failure.
buy a new gas cap and reset the codes. drive,
if comes back,
do a tank vent system leak down test. fails, fix that next
if that passes, test all EVAP valves. end to end.

My check engine and check fuel cap light keep coming on after i changed the gas cap twice and reset the light it came back on what could this be. I drive a 06 lincoln navigator

You need to diagnose any codes you get
& smoke test the evap system, to find a

Seldom does throwing on parts with a name similar
to a code work

Codes have nothing to do with installing parts

Clearing codes, clears all data needed to diagnose
the failed system & the evap system only runs every few
days,so you done as far as codes helping

Where the evap vent valve solenoid on a 1998 chevy monte carlo

well most evap solenoids are either on the back by fuel tank, by differential, or infront by firewall or wheel fender wells which need a lil dissasembly. probably a vacum leak first check ure gas cap that it actually locks and reset code if comes back either a leak to the solenoid or bad connector corrosion maybe.

I have a 2004 Monte Carlo. Have there been issues trying to fill the gas tank? I can't open up a gas nozzle as it stops like the tank is full. The gas just does not go down cleanly, backing up or...

You either have an obstruction in the filler tube or the vent tube on the filler is clogged so it is not allowing air to escape as the gas is going in.
