Fan for all air/warm/hot/defroster/ac

The problem is that the fan only comes on sometimes and seems to have a mind of its own. mcanic says to fix would be costly. just installed a new ac comp and really want to drive this car. kenneth setser

Hi there kenneth, i have one or two options for you, first one is that the relay might be bad or the tempature sensor on the thermostat neck might be bad, but it sounds more like a relay than anything have it checked or replaced and good luck and appreciate your question

I bought my 1999 oldsmobile cutlass new and now im having problems with my motor fans coming on,my ac don't work anymore but for the fans to come on I have to turn my ac switch on,if I switch to heat

If the fans work, (I'm guessing there are two of them) only when the A/C is on, then it means that the temperature sensor is damage. If possible, have a professional take a look at it. Both fans are OK,

Rattling coming from front of engine. Comes and goes. Seems like ac compressor or fan?

There is a known problem with the bearing on the AC compressor going out. I had to replace my compressor due to this. However it is possible to replace just the bearing, but takes some know how.

1999 Mazda 626 brand new battery, oil change, cranks, but doesn't start. What is going on? Also A/C doesn't work accidently ran it for a couple of minutes while in the automatic carwash so I wouldn't pass...

try installing a new ignition switch maybe burned out. get a repair manual to do so. its not hard but buy it from a auto shop with life time warranty $100. - dealer 200 and very limited warranty.

as for the fans not starting there are 3 relay switches by the battery. look like little sqaures. when they burn out your ac fans do not come on or cooling fans. there about 6 or 7 bucks a piece. if you put all 3 new ones its prob the fan motor. they cost $50 and you can do it your self without a repair manual. you may have to cut the original wires splice them and retape with with electrical tape to the new fan motor. or you can buy original fan motors from the dealer for $150 each!

keep a spare in your trunk because when that relays goes out and your ac does to you will want to put a new one in asap where ever you are.

also if its cranks and does not start have a mechanic look at the wires connecting to the starter. sometimes they rot and make poor contact and do not get enough power to start or a bad starter?. had that on my 99 mazda lx. if you are driving an automatic take it the dealer or mechanic to have them put some type of cooler for the transmission or else it will overheat and cost you a new one of 2000. the part is 300 and need a mechanic to install it. that is a very known prob with the automatic transmissions. it should be a recall fortunetly i have manual transmission.

Ac compressor will not engage when ac is on. System seems to be full of gas. Quit without warning. This is on a 2003 Nissan Altima with 2.5L. Secondary fan does come on when AC is switched on.

Check A/C compressor relay. When you say it seems to be full of gas(freon) have you actually put a pressure gauge on the system? If the pressure is too low, the compressor will not engage. If the compressor relay is functioning, check for power at the compressor clutch. If it has power to it and it still is not engaging, the A/C clutch may need replacing. It is usually almost as economical to replace the complete compressor with clutch installed than to just purchase a clutch. Keep in mind if you replace the compressor you should also replace the receiver/dryer also referred to as the accumulator.

2000 Maxima Running Hot

Try replaceing the engine fan controller, make sure there are no bugs in the radiator, there is another coolant sensor cost about $22.00 for it the fan control costs $40.00 bucks since you say it's ok when you have AC on my guess is the fan comes on for the ac and keeps it cool. You also may need a new fan motor, non AC side. sometimes the shats slip and the fan slips on the shaft of the motor an causes it not to turn fast enought.
