2001 Kia Overheats On Hills and Passings

My 2001 Kia started overeating when I give it gas to go up a hill, or to pass another car, or whenever I accelerate quickly. If I just drive normally then the temperature gauge stays on notch below half. Any suggestions?

It depends on how high the hill goes, for big hills the gauge goes about 3/4, and after I hit the top the temperature slowly lowers back down to about half.

I changed the thermostat. Seems to have done the trick

Loses lpower going up hills. drives fine but doesnt shift down going up the hills only when i hit the gas hard

If it has high mileage on it probably is the catalytic converter is stopped up. A dead give away is losing power going up hills and not shifting like it used to. A easy test is to put your hand over the exhaust pipe wear a glove as it may be hot. Then have a friend give it gas if it is stopped up you will be able to hold the exhaust from coming out. That is just a simple test but more then likely it is stopped up . You can get a after market cat for about half the price of a new one . Good luck.

Jerks and looses power on hills and flat land no engine light comes on what can be wrong?

When you said it feels like its not getting enough gas, you may be right.
Since you have replaced the fuel filter, and you are not getting a check engine light, my suggestion would be to check fuel pressure with a gauge. The fuel pump may be weak.

2005 Kia Sportage. Looses acceleration going up hills. RPM's are up, but no acceleration. This has happened in the past (during hot outside temps), fuel pump was replaced and it seemed to solve the...

When going up hills is the engine bucking and missing? Also for the hard start warm problem, check the fuel pressure regulator for leaks into the vac line.

My 1995 F250 gas truck. overheats going up long hills. Also overheats when pulling a trailer or if I got a load in back.

switch to low gear when going up hills or carrying big loads, if you cant switch to 4 wheel. If none are the solution antifreeze, water in radiator, new radiator, etc. BUT try the low ranged gears first.
