Question about 2005 Cadillac STS
You may have burnt starter solenoid contacts, do you hear a click when you try to start engine? If so the problem is the starter.

Crank shaft positions sensors. check it out.

Had this problem, finnaly traced it down to a bad key contacts replace the key cylindar out and rekeyed to my keys. No problems now for two years.
