I could recommend a product I use on my own cars called SeaFoam. You can buy it at most autoparts stores like PepBoys and what it does is clean out alot of the carbon buildup, which improves gas milage and gets the engine running like new. Just follow the instructions on the back.

Does the air condition consume more fuel

I have heard yes & no. When the Ac pump clutch engages, im sure there is more load. resulting in less mpg. But if your having significant variation in mpg. I would pay attention to where i purchase gasoline. There are reports where i live, that the local shell gas, has dropped many owners mpg. I too noticed this. Remember also, your paying for & getting 90% gas, 10 alcohol. if you have 100% gas where you live, i would only use that. Make sure you air filter is clean, you can tap them out, ive even vacumed them clean with a shop vac. make sure oil is change per your manual, its probably every 5000-7500 miles. Use Quality oil, >not jiffy lube.... Get & keep a pressure gauge for your tires, keep them inflated properly, they will wear longer & low tires will affect your mpg negatively

I averaged 9-10 MPG in my 98 w/5.7 l vortec.
cap, rotor, plugs, wires, O2 sensors, fuel filter, and fresh air filter are the best way to peak MPG's

hello. you should be getting about 18 mpg city and 22-24 mpg highway. If you are getting a lot less than this, change the air filter and the spark plugs. Joe

Volvo s40 1.8 gdi excessive fuel consumption

You're going to have to figure out what's causing the misfire. The car is almost 10 years old, so change the plugs to start with. If you still have a misfire, go to auto zone and have them pull the codes to find out which cylinder is the issue. Then figure out fuel or spark? Coil or injector? Was there a lean code? Check for a vacuum leak. Change the fuel filter and air filter for maintanence. The cruise control may be another issue.

Horrid gas mileage with a 91' Nissan D21, 4x4, 5-speed.

hello there

Your car needs a tune up, including the air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs. It's also worth while checking for a faulty/stuck brake caliper, after you've been on a longish drive go around and feel the wheel rims if one is alot more warmer than the rest then you also have a faulty brake caliper.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Thanks

Air filter and a fuel service. I'm thinking you have changed the air filter so have the fuel system cleaned. Try bgfindashop.com
I work as a tech in a dealership and we use BG Products. They have a fuel service kit that helps. Goodluck
